Food Review: Sabor Cocina Y Tapas At CHIJMES | Spanish Courtyard Dining In Cityhall
The Place Located at CHIJMES, we checked out a new Spanish restaurant Sabòr Cocina Y Tapas, a 100-seater dining space in Cityhall. Sabor took over the space of the now-defunct Prive, and it has alfresco courtyard seating in addition to the contemporary glass-enclosed indoor dining space.

The culinary direction is led by Valencian-born Chef-Consultant and co-founder of the London Paella School, Javier Vicente Rejas, whose experience across Singapore’s Spanish dining scene, including FOC.

The Food Backed by the team behind Duomo Ristorante, Sabor, the menu here is a mix of tapas, paellas, and Spanish specialties complemented by a curated selection of wines and beverages.
Highlights include Croquetas Spicy Crab, Bikini Sobrasada with Honey and Cheese, Angus Beef Steak with Piquillo Peppers, and Grilled Barramundi with Moho Picón finished over binchotan.
For a start, I had the Bread & Tomatoes (Vegetarian) (S$12), a simple starter but delicious. I like the crisp texture of the bread and the generous spread of the tomato.

A series of classic tapas followed next – Jamón Serrano Croquette (S$4/piece); Spicy Crab Croquette (S$4/piece); Bikini Sobrasada, Honey & Cheese (S$18); and Chicken Wings ‘Dirty Pepe’ (S$18). The tapas are generally tasty, with my favourite being the Bikini Sobrasada, Honey & Cheese where you get that balance of honey and cheese in one bite.

Other starters I had include the likes of the Potatoes ‘Bravisimas’ (Vegetarian) (S$16) and Calçots Tempura & Romesco (Vegetarian) (S$16), both of which are decent dishes for sharing.

What’s Spanish food without paellas? The ones here range from classic interpretations to heartier variations such as Grilled Wagyu Beef.

The Grilled Wagyu Beef Paella (S$48) comes in a generous portion and is good to share for 2-3 pax. The beef was on the saltier side which hopefully would be toned down in terms of seasoning.

For protein, expect options like the Grilled Barramundi (S$34) with Picón Sauce which I had. Similar to the grilled wagyu beef paella, the seasoning of the fish was on the saltier spectrum.

For desserts, there is of course everyone’s favourite Churros with Chocolate (S$12), or you can go for the indulgent Crema Catalana with Cookies (S$14).

Rants The meats I had were generally on the saltier side which hopefully the team would be able to tweak it as they gather more feedback along the way.
Will I Return Again? Sabor is a lively spot for an easy Spanish meal given its convenient location in the heart of Cityhall. The menu is well-varied and while there are some hits and misses for me, it is worth a try for the overall experience.
