Food Review: Oscar’s Café & Terrace | Quality buffet at Conrad Hotel

The Place If you are looking for a good quality international buffet in Singapore, look no further than Oscar’s Cafe as it is one of the best International buffets around. Located in cosy Conrad Centennial Hotel, the ambience is perfect be it for lunch or dinner and I like the fact that it is spacious unlike some buffets where the tables are placed very near together.

The Food There is pretty much every kind of cuisine you can find here, including Chinese food and local delights such as Wanton Mee and Bak Kut Teh. The local delights counter is located at the outdoor area of the restaurant. I have to add that the high quality of the food is quite consistent, although there are a few hits and misses.

Japanese cuisine – fresh Sashimi, Sushi and Soba. The Salmon Sashimi is awesome; do not hesitate to request for Salmon Belly as well.

Meat lovers will rejoice with the selection of Rip-eye Steak, Lamb Shoulder and Lamb Steak, just to name a few.

The Seafood range is wide as well, with the likes of Prawns, Lobster and Crab.

However, the highlight has got to be the 6 different types of Oysters, air flown from different parts of the world such as France and New Zealand. The queue for the Oysters can get very long as the Chef takes time to open each Oyster shell conscientiously for every customer, which explains the freshness of the Oysters at Oscars’s. Thus, this should be the first food station for every Oyster lover out there.

There is always space for desserts and I think that the selection at Oscar’s is one of the best around in terms of quality. To begin with, I can have the Movenpick ice-cream forever, where there are numerous toppings such as Chocolate Chips to add in.

Gourmet Chocolates are for everyone, at least for Oscar’s. Choose and select from different flavours of Pralines. Other than Praline Chocolates, there are different flavours of Macaroons as well.

For cakes, there is the usual fare such as Chocolate Hazelnut and Mousse. Other than that, I have to specially mention that they also have different variety of Nonya desserts such as Nonya Kuehs.

Will I return again? The price of the buffet varies depending on the day of the week or if it is for Lunch or Dinner buffet. At $75++ for a Friday/Saturday dinner buffet, I will say that the price is quite steep. However, for the wide variety and high quality of the food, I will definitely want to return again soon.

Another plus point to add is that the service at Oscar’s is excellent. For anyone who happens to visit Oscar’s on your Birthday, the restaurant will specially prepare a Birthday cake (subject to advance notice) and there will be a surprise which awaits for you, with compliments from Oscar’s.

  1. Hi, Is this a normal weekday/end buffet of the sun special buffet?

    • Greetings! The buffet the RantingPanda had was the normal weekday/end buffet. The key difference between what RantingPanda had as compared to the Sunday Special Buffet (a.k.a Amazing Graze Sunday Lunch) will be that the Sunday Buffet offer diners free-flowing champagne, wine, beer, or sparkling apple juice to compliment the brunch buffet selections.

And as per my Rants, Oscar’s is definitely worth a try!
