Food Review: Oriole Cafe & Bar
The Place I was racking my brains over a decent cafe for a Sunday brunch in Somerset area and the first to come to my mind is Oriole Cafe. It’s convenient location just at the doorstep of 313 Somerset is a big plus, but what really draws me back is the quality coffee here, all coffee beans self-roasted. I also take comfort that the coffee can’t be any bad, given that it is made from award winning Baristas.
The Food It is a shame that I have not tried the Brunch here at Oriole till today. My favourite brunch items have always been either the Eggs Benedict or the full English Breakfast, which I have decided to go with the former. I am on a quest to hunt for the best Eggs Benny in town, after trying some really good ones from Wild Honey and Jones the Grocer.
Firstly, a Cafe Latte ($5.50) to kickstart my Sunday brunch. The coffee taste is very smooth, and the amount of milk used is just right.
My Salmon Benedict ($19) lived up to my expectations. It is definitely not the best Eggs Benedict I have tried, but somehow I was rather satisfied with it still. I think the hollandaise sauce can be improved on, apart from that I like the runny-ness of the eggs as well as the smoked salmon.
For a safer option, the full English Breakfast ($20) is hard to go wrong. The toast is especially tasty, not to mention the huge portions as well.
Rants Not the most indie cafe to be seen in for the Hipsters, but quality food is almost guaranteed.
Will I return again? Anytime for a good cuppa coffee.
