Coffee Guide - Orchard Road 1. Starbucks

There’s nothing fanciful in Starbucks, except comfort coffee and familiar grounds. What is nice about this outlet is that you are in town yet away from the more crowded strip of Orchard Road.

2. Tiong Bahru Bakery

The success of Tiong Bahru Bakery is evident as this is the third outlet after the flagship branch in Tiong Bahru and Raffles City. Located in a prime small corner of Tangs Departmental store, I like this branch for its location right smack in Orchard Road. Choose the window seats for some awesome people watching as you sip your coffee and have one of Singapore’s best croissant.

3. Ya Kun Family Cafe

The food hall of Tangs basement is fast becoming a foodie haven since its revamp late last year. The family café of Ya Kun offers more than just its famous Kaya Toast and old Singapore style coffee. There are also sandwiches such as Tom Yum Seafood Sandwich as well as more types of beverages such as Mocha Frostyz and Green Tea Frostyz. Cool!

4. Jones the Grocer

For gourmet coffee, I can always trust on Jones the Grocer in serving good coffee. This Ion outlet seems to be less crowded than the branch in Mandarin Gallery and there is also alfresco seats if the weather is ideal.

5. Toast Box

I have been to Paragon mall many times but it was only recently that I discovered a Toast Box right at the back of the mall, right opposite Mount Elizabeth hospital. Toast Box is always packed in town but this outlet probably has a much higher chance of grabbing a table, away from the main crowd in the mall.

6. The Providore

Nice brunch and great coffee make a perfect match, which is probably the success behind The Providore. Coffee beans from Toby’s Estate, the location is perfect for coffee break after all the shopping in Orchard Road.

7. Costa Coffee

Robinsons massive makeover in the former Heeren must have been one of the most successful revamp along Orchard Road. Other than the awesome shopping in this building, there is a less-known Costa Coffee outlet in the corner of the basement. Sip a cuppa coffee from this UK franchise, where even the sofa seats are screaming the UK flag.

8. Oriole Cafe & Bar

This award winning Barista café self-roast their beans in their flagship outlet in Keong Siak Road while the Somerset branch serves brunch and dinner other than the famous coffee. Oriole is a convenient café to catch up with friends or simply people watch.

9. Dean & Deluca

The New York gourmet food outlet first opened in mid 2012 in Orchard Central. Other than gourmet coffee, Dean & Deluca serves brunch and desserts as well. As a food gourmet outlet, it is nice to shop for some of its home brands pasta or tea to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

10. Kith Cafe

Almost at the end of Orchard Road is Kith Café in Park Mall, which is a popular spot for brunch lovers. The coffee beans are sourced internationally and roasted by a local supplier. It can be quite packed on weekends so it might be good to make a reservation beforehand.
