Food Review: Luxe Singapore hits Keong Siak | First Overseas Outpost of the Sydney Cafe [Closed]
The Place I have walked past this spot a few times on those random lunch hour walks as my office is in Tanjong Pagar area, not realising that this beautiful space is in fact Luxe Singapore. Hailing from Sydney, this is the group’s first overseas outpost with a focus on contemporary Australian cuisine with a Southeast Asian twist. My first impression when I stepped in was that this is definitely not a cafe, as it looks too luxe to be labelled one (pardon the pun). The modern touches of the furniture drew my attention most, with a modern minimalist touch to the interior, which I find a good shift from the ubiquitous industrial theme cafes. This is more of a restaurant bar concept than a cafe.
The Food I was too early on a weekend, which means only the one-pager brunch menu is available. The options are not fancy, with choices such as Luxe Maple Nut Granola ($16), Luxe Breakfast Plate ($20), Merryberry Ricotta Hotcakes ($18) and Eggs Benedict ($20). You get to top up sides of your choice as well, great for me as I get to customise my own brunch plate.
We settled for the Scrambled Eggs with SourdoughToast ($13) and Toasted Sourdough Breads ($7) with add-on of Avocado ($4) and Sauteed Mushrooms ($5). Nothing fanciful here, but the freshly baked sourdough bread is probably one of the elements I enjoyed most.
Coffee by Toby’s Estate is a good perk me up drink.
Rants It gets really crowded, and the small team running Luxe will not be able to give you their usual excellent service. Which is a pity.
Will I Return Again? I fell in love with the space at Luxe even without trying the food. That said, I really want to return to try its lunch or dinner menu, which looks really promising. I will update this post with my new finds on the next visit!
