The Place It is hard to come across good Hong Kong style noodles in Singapore but I stumbled upon one good stall in CBD area recently. Located in the popular Maxwell Food Centre, there was a snaking long queue for Fu Shun Shao La Mian Jia, housed in the middle of the food centre with stall number #01-71. You won’t miss the glorious display of roast port, char siew and duck meat, paired with either noodles or rice. When it was my turn to order, I was happy to be greeted by a Hong Kong accent asking for my order. Now, this can’t go very bad.
The Food Prices start from $3.50, which is quite the norm for hawker centre prices in Singapore. The average waiting time during weekday lunch time can be up to 20 to 30 minutes. I had a large portion of Roasted pork belly and char siew noodles ($5), which came with generous chunks of meat. The first taste of the noodles reminded me of those I had in Hong Kong, that springy texture. The roasted pork belly had a nice crackling skin, with tender fatty meat which was ultra satisfying. The char siew was decently done, not exceptional but definitely above average.
Overall verdict: Fu Shun Roasted Meat Specialist is definitely worth a try if you are a fan of Hong Kong style roast meat. Don’t miss this stall in Maxwell Food Centre if you are working around Tanjong Pagar area or if you are clueless what to have here.
