Food Review: Tea Lounge at Regent Singapore | The Best Afternoon Tea in Singapore?

The Place We have been dying to try the High-Tea at Regent Singapore Tea Lounge for the longest time. Blame it on our busy weekend schedules, it took us this long to visit the highly raved Afternoon Tea buffet, and arguable one of the best in Singapore. On a related note, Regent Singapore may not be the poshest and newest hotel in Orchard Road, but it is one of those hotels in Singapore which we think the dining concepts are one of the best and distinct. You can find the award winning Italian buffet restaurant Basilico and Manhattan Bar (World #11 Best Bar and Asia’s Best 2016), while the Cantonese restaurant Summer Palace is on level 3.

Back to Tea Lounge, it is located at the lobby level in an open-concept setting. Of course, if your privacy is greatly valued, you can still request for a corner table.

The Food The main different between weekdays and weekends is the former serves 3-tier Afternoon Tea while weekends are meant for the High Tea Buffet. The buffet spread looks deceptively small but the variety is amazing as we go along the line. My favourite part of the buffet spread is the live Carving station where you can get to savour chicken rice, beef prime rib and salmon confit fillet.

The sushi station is surprisingly decent, given that Japanese food is rarely a highlight of any Afternoon Tea buffet.

That said, the highlights of Tea Lounge are really the pastries and desserts. The scones come in plain and different monthly flavours, the macarons were good, and not forgetting the quiches too.

Other noteworthy mentions are the local delights such as Regent Signature Laksa, chilli crab and buns, and chicken satay.

Of course, there are many more options around the buffet like the usual Dim Sum spread, cold dishes like your salad, cheese and a caviar station, as well as cakes and tarts which are countless to be mentioned here.

Rants As much as I enjoyed the live piano performance at the lobby, it can be distracting with people shuffling around the lobby area if you value a more intimate and quiet dining experience.

Will I Return Again? I have been to many high-teas but not many left an impression on me. The prices are on the high end for Tea Lounge but it is easily one of the best Afternoon Tea buffet experience in Singapore for me. If you only have time and space for one Afternoon Tea experience, you know where you can find us.
