Food Review: Refreshed Sunday Champagne Brunch at Seasonal Tastes | Dine with a view at The Westin Singapore

The Place Located on level 32 of The Westin Singapore, Seasonal Tastes is the all-day dining restaurant in this hotel property which boasts one of the best city dining view of Singapore. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of window tables and natural lighting. We checked out the restaurant not too long ago, which recently launched its new Decadent Sunday Champagne Brunch.

The Food As we stepped into Seasonal Tastes, the first station which greeted us was the Seafood selections. As with every buffet, it is probably only worth the buck if you can stomach multiple servings of seafood. Some of the seafood selections here include the Canadian lobsters, snow crabs, Alaskan king crab, fresh oysters, black mussels and clams. We tried the crab and lobster, both were very fresh and they are huge.

The other highlight of the Sunday Brunch Buffet is the grilled live station, where you get to choose the type of meat and seafood you fancy and the chef will prepare it a la minute. I tried the steak, foie gras and sausage, which passed the mark.

Other highlights of the buffet include the grilled Australian Tomahawk steak and the rolled flank steak stuffed with octopus, baby spinach and dried cranberries at the carving station. Unfortunately, the Tomahawk steak was too tough and it wasn’t grilled evenly.

If you love your carbs, you can select your choice of pastas at the live station, from cheese ravioli to black truffle gnocchi coupled with your choice of sauces and toppings, all prepared a la minute.

For desserts, the spread is quite decent, comprises of a good mix of strawberry rhubarb tarts, sticky toffee pudding, bee sting brioche with vanilla cream, assortment of cakes, macarons, and gelato and sorbet. I don’t have a sweet tooth, hence I only tried the gelato which was quite rich.

Rants In terms of spread, you will be disappointed if you are expecting those of The Line or Edge. I feel that Seasonal Tastes has the capacity to expand its buffet selections to make it a more attractive option to stay competitive.

Will I Return Again? There are hits and misses for the food, especially the Asian cuisine which seems to be a notch below as compared to other buffet restaurants. It seems like the main draw here is the view, not the food. There are always trade-offs in life.

The Decadent Sunday Champagne Brunch is available every Sunday, from 12 pm to 3 pm at Seasonal Tastes, The Westin Singapore. You can opt for free-flow servings of Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut champagne, wines, beer, or soft drinks.
