The Hotel Located in the northern beach area of Penang, I stayed at DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang last year during my weekend trip to the island. The hotel is approximately an hour from Penang International Airport and about 20 minutes away from George Town.

Upon arrival, the hotel lobby is non-air conditioned and you can catch a glimpse of the sea view from the lobby.

The main reason for my stay at DoubleTree Resort By Hilton Penang is to fulfil my two nights requirement to fast track to Hilton Gold.

The Room I checked into the most entry level King Guest Room which is pretty decent. It is definitely not luxurious, but for a night’s stay and the price I paid, I have no complaints.

The bedroom is decked in neutral colours and comes with basic amenities like wifi, ironing board and coffee making facilities. The bathroom is basic and no frills as well.

The Facilities With a pool and fitness centre on site, these are the main activities for guests. There are also daily planned activities should you be keen to sign up such as water sports in the pool.

The Restaurant The all-day dining restaurant and breakfast is Makan Kitchen, right beside the swimming pool. I didn’t manage to try this restaurant during my visit as my booking doesn’t include breakfast.

Rants The hotel is relatively far from George Town if this UNESCO area is your main agenda.

Overall Experience This is a decent hotel to stay in Penang and is especially family friendly. It is not on the same luxurious level as Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa, neither is the location as convenient as those located in George Town. The only redeeming factor is the affordable price and its proximity to the beach.
