Food Review: Eng Ho Fried Hokkien Mee At Ang Mo Kio | One Of The Best Hokkien Mee In Singapore

The Place Located in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 at Teck Ghee Square Market and Food Centre, Eng Ho Fried Hokkien Mee is one stall which I frequent whenever I have a Hokkien Mee craving. In terms of access, it is not near Ang Mo Kio MRT but if you drive, there is plenty of parking space. Another point to note, the stall operates in the evening so this is not where you go to have breakfast.

The Food The Hokkien Mee comes is S$4, S$5 or S$6, and despite having it a couple of times already, I only decided to write about it during this circuit breaker period since we are all in need of meal ideas. It also helps that I really spend much more time at home!

Compared to normal days, my order of two S$5 packets took about 15 minutes to prepare, whereas it used to take about 30 minutes when I dined at the hawker centre. For this circuit breaker period, you can call after 3.30pm to pre-order and at least 30 minutes in advance for same day self pick-up. The stall starts operating from 4pm.

So how did the noodles turned out after my journey home? For one, the texture of the noodles is usually wetter when I have it right on the spot, and unsurprisingly, time must have evaporated some of that moist texture. Regardless, I still delight in the drier noodles as it was still flavourful.

Ingredients wise, there are pieces of sliced squid, heaps of chilli if you request for it, lime, and sliced pork! Pretty generous portion for S$5, and I personally prefer to enjoy the noodles with some chilli as the chilli is very good. Some Hokkien Mee do come with bits and pieces of pork lard, though not the one from Eng Ho, and I don’t find it a striking omission.
