Food Review: Atlas Bar At Parkview Square, Bugis | Be Mesmerised By The 1920s New York City Interior Of This Asia Best Bar
The Place Located in the iconic Parkview Square in Bugis, Atlas Bar is one definitely amongst the most popular and best bar in Singapore, if not in Asia. It was most recently ranked Number 5 in the Asia 50 Best Bars awards, having been consistently featured on this acclaimed award in recent years. The most striking impression as I stepped into Atlas is the grandeur of the space. It literally occupies the whole lobby of level 2, as characterised by its high ceiling and insane 1920s New York City inspired interior design. Well, to say that it is the most impressive lobby and bar in Singapore is quite an understatement.
For that Instagram perfect shot? Take the spiral stairs up to the mezzanine level where you can get the best view of Atlas, and yes, there is often a queue for pictures.
The Food Gin and Champagne are some of the highlights at Atlas, with more than 1,300 gins on the menu. It was frankly quite overwhelming to flip the drinks menu. I managed to try two Gins – the Iron Balls Gin (S$25) and the Atlas G&T (S$19). Roku Gin is my current favourite, and I am glad that I finally had the chance to try Iron Balls Gin as recommended by a friend.
The Iron Balls Gin is from Thailand, with a strong citrus and floral flavour profile. The main difference between this and Roku Gin will definitely be its spiced notes, as I learnt that the gin was prepared with ginger and lemongrass as its base.
Dropped by for dinner, and the food menu at Atlas is concise. If you can only pick one hot bite, I highly recommend the Croque Monsieur (S$18). Stuffed with Spanish cheese, this is easily one of the best versions I have had.
The toast here is very crispy, and that cheese is just so perfectly melted. One serving is clearly not enough.
For mains, you can’t go very wrong with the Steak Frites (S$40). It is sinfully topped with bone marrow butter, and that adds to the overall flavour of the beef for sure.
I had my steak medium-rare, and the beef here is succulent and left me very satisfied.
Rants Some inconsistency across the service standards, though the service is generally competent. Perhaps I expected much more in terms of service for one of Asia’s Best Bar.
Will I Return Again? I really enjoyed my time at Atlas. There is a lack of such bar space in Singapore and this is one of the most impressive bar and restaurant I have come across locally. Bring on the Champagne next!
