Food Review: Leong Ji Seafood At Punggol | Casual Zichar Restaurant With Delicious White Bee Hoon
The Place It used to be at Punggol Settlement, and Leong Ji Seafood relocated to Punggol East last year. Located in a coffeeshop at a quiet corner of Punggol, this casual Zichar stall is very popular, as I had revisited on weekday and weekend evenings. In terms of capacity, there are outdoor tables for bigger groups and smaller tables within the coffeeshop itself.
The Food There are many dishes to choose from and well-varied, with some specialties like the Fish Head, Seafood White Bee Hoon, Curry Hor Fun and Creamy Pork Rib. If there is only one dish you should have, it is definitely the Seafood White Bee Hoon (S$6). The small version I had is good for two persons if you are planning to order other dishes. There is a strong wok-hei aroma on the bee hoon, and I also like that the texture is quite moist. Overall, it is very moreish and is one of the best versions around for me.
Another signature dish, the Creamy Pork Rib (S$12) comes in small slices of pork drenched in creamy sauce. That said, it is a little cloying after a few pieces.
Since fish head is one of the specialty, I went for the Curry Fish Head (S$28) which is topped with generous pieces of beancurd skin. Beancurd skin is perfect with curry, and the curry here isn’t too spicy and goes perfectly with some rice. Overall, the fish itself is quite fresh as well and this is one good sharing dish to order.
Rants Waiting time can be up to 30 minutes on weekend evenings.
Will I Return Again? For those residing in the North-east, Leong Ji Seafood is worth checking out for a causal family meal. There are many options on the menu, come hungry and in small groups to try a wider variety of dishes. It is definitely one of my go to Zichar in Punggol for now.
