Food Scoops: Fennel Cafe Active Garden At Gardens By The Bay | Gorgeous Pet-Friendly Cafe By The Waterfront Promenade

What’s Buzzing? A new cafe which opened few weeks back in Gardens By The Bay, Fennel Café Active Garden is a pet-friendly cafe located along the Waterfront Promenade and is the second outlet of the cafe. The other location is the nearby Fennel Café Flower Dome, which Fennel Café Active Garden is a mid-way pitstop between Marina Barrage and Marina Bay Sands. You will be familiar with the exercise track which links the two locations if you have jogged or cycled along the track before.

Directions: If you are coming from Marina Bay Sands/Helix Bridge, walk for approximately 5 minutes along the Waterfront Promenade under Benjamin Sheares Bridge and Active Garden/Fennel Cafe will be on the right. Unfortunately, the cafe is not exactly very near the carpark or MRT station and involves a considerable walking to get there.

If you look up Fennel Cafe Active Garden, the current Google Map location is incorrect. The below is the correct location.

What To Expect? In a sense, this is a gorgeous space for fitness junkies who want to take a break for some light snacks and drinks.

It is a spacious 90-seater with both outdoor (pet-friendly zone) and indoor seats which offer ample natural light from the floor to ceiling glass panes.

For food options, expect light bites like croissants, pastries, sandwiches and cakes. Prices are relatively expensive by cafe standards, which is probably attributed to the touristy location and the brand of Fennel Cafe affiliated with fine-dining restaurant Pollen. As a gauge, a plain croissant cost S$6 while a lemon meringue tart cost S$11.

For drinks, there are coffee, tea, beers and wines. We had a Long Black (S$5) and Flat White (S$6). The coffee is decently priced if that’s a consolation, and taste decent enough.

Go for the outdoor seats if the weather is kind enough. Great space if you are feeling sweaty, with pets, kids, and you get a view of the Singapore Flyer.
