Matera
Located at the iconic Fullerton Waterboat House in Singapore, Matera is one new exciting addition to the culinary scene, especially in the CBD area of Singapore. Matera is Chef Bjoern Alexander latest manifestation of modern Italian cuisine with a touch of Asian influences of Japanese and Chinese elements. There are only set menus at Matera where lunch menu starts from S$78++ for two courses and dinner menu from S$138++ for three courses. Brasserie Astoria Singapore
Located at the iconic Victoria Theater & Concert Hall, the new Brasserie Astoria Singapore is an international brasserie concept part of the Frantzén Group, which is also the team behind 3-Michelin starred Restaurant Zen. The interior of Brasserie Astoria Singapore is elegant, as the high ceiling lends a certain grandeur to the dining ambience. It is an extensive à la carte menu where several dishes are presented on serving carts and served tableside. The cuisine is largely modern European with Nordic influences with dishes like Astoria Osciétra Caviar served with chef’s signature parsnip waffles; Grilled Spring Chicken; and Whiskey Flambéed Beef (prepared tableside). This is a new fine-dining concept that serves contemporary Southeast Asian cuisine where Chef-Owner Hafizzul Hashim pays tribute to the region. With a vast culinary experience across London, Tokyo and Ho Chi Minh, including Michelin-starred restaurants like Mirabelle and Chez Bruce in London as well as Jean Georges Tokyo, the dishes at Restaurant Fiz by Chef-Owner Hafizzul are well-executed with complex flavour profiles with only one tasting menu to choose from. Justin
Tucked away at a quiet corner of Tang Plaza Level 4 in Orchard Road is the new Justin restaurant by celebrity Chef Justin Quek. The menu at Justin is quite extensive and spans across Asian and French dishes with starters, brunch dishes, sharing plates, mains and desserts. Asian dishes include the likes of Homemade Foie Gras Xiao Long Bao and Prawn Noodle Soup. Justin is also Australia’s number one pure coffee brand Vitoria Coffee’s official flagship store, a first in Singapore and the region. Located at Tras Street, Burma Social is Singapore’s first multicultural restaurant and bar offering a unique Feast of Six Kingdoms, where traditional Burmese recipes are elevated with modern infusions of its bordering Chinese, Thai, Indian, Bangladeshi and Laotian neighbours, with Burmese cuisine at its epicentre. The ala carte menu is extensive to say the least, split across Bar Bites, Starters, Soups, Salad, Rice, Mains and Desserts. Haku Sushi
Located in the basement of Great World City, Haku Sushi is a new Japanese Omakase restaurant where their Omakase menu starts from S$68++, a value for money price point in Singapore’s dining scene. The restaurant is helmed by Chef Yamamoto Yoshiki who brings with him over 35 years of experience from Osaka to Shanghai, and now to Singapore. It offers Kansai-style sushi, characterized by the use of signature sushi-zu (酢し) and lightly pressed sushi rice. [Read more here…]

Sushi Kawasemi
Located in Telok Ayer Street is two months old Japanese Omakase restaurant, Sushi Kawasemi, which is a zen retreat from the hustle and bustle of CBD. The interior of Sushi Kawasemi is denominated by a long counter seating in wooden furnishings and is helmed by Chef Sam who has over a decade of experience (previously at Ashino), where his forte is traditional edomae-style sushi as reflected in their use of the age-old technique, Shinkei-jime. Meta
This is Meta’s third location, a One Michelin Star restaurant in Singapore. Located just a few doors down from Esora, the new space of Meta Restaurant helmed by Chef owner Sun Kim is gorgeous. I love the whole neutral tonality of the interior which features a main dining hall with a view of the open kitchen. Combining Chef Sun’s Korean heritage, Japanese culinary techniques, and Western culinary training, the cuisine at Meta is innovative and it incorporates a myriad of seasonal produce and ingredients. There are only set menus here where lunch goes for S$248++ per diner (only available on Friday and Saturday) while dinner is priced at S$298++ per diner. [Read more here…]

Great Nanyang Heritage Cafe
The founder of Yang Ming Seafood opened an old school kopitiam concept along Criag Road with coffeeshop favourites of nasi lemak kukus, dry mee siam, egg fried rice and more. The menu is extensive and being centrally located near Tanjong Pagar MRT, you can expect a crowd during peak meal hours.

New Nikkei-inspired Afternoon Tea Experience At Ginger.Lily
If you love Afternoon Tea with Japanese elements and a twist of Latin American, the new Nikkei-inspired Afternoon Tea at Ginger.Lily should be an interesting one. Expect Peruvian flavours in the savoury delights like the Shisamo Bun, served with sriracha, pickles and furikake; Kurobuta Pork Sando with tonkatsu sauce and mustard; and a trio of bite-sized Nikkei-inspired Nigiris like the Foie Gras with Nikkei ginger teriyaki; Maldon salt, White Fish with chili, garlic and green onion; and Maguro Chu-Toro with orange ponzu glaze. For sweets, Chef Cindy’s desserts draw more inspiration from the Japanese half of Nikkei, presented in Ginger.Lily’s famous book-shaped dessert drawer. We had treats like the Matcha & Sudachi, Miyazaki Mango Cheesecake, Muscat Anise Shortcake and Mikan Cacao Pepper Choux!

Taking place for three months from August till end of October, expect specially curated Argentinian menu and drinks at both One-ninety Restaurant and One-Ninety Bar. Some of the mains to expect include the Argentinian Rib Eye steak, Frog Legs “A la Provenzal’ and Whole Baby Spring Chicken!
