Food Review: 132 Traditional Teochew Noodles At Marine Terrace | Old School Mee Pok Noodles Since 1969

The Place The new Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) Stage 4 is finally opened, and it is great news to everyone since 50A Marine Terrace Food Centre is much more accessible now. One stall to try near Marine Terrace MRT Station is 132 Traditional Teochew Noodles located in the hawker centre at Blk 50A, and this is an old name stall which specialises in Mee Pok fishball noodles. Yes, only Mee Pok. No Mee Kia, no Kway Teow.

132 Traditional Teochew Noodles used to be located at the coffeeshop right beside the food centre, and it just shifted to a stall in the hawker centre this month. It is located at the row right behind another popular stall in this food centre,  Seng Hoe Fish Ball Minced Meat Noodle. According to its signboard, the history of the brand dates back to 1969!

The Food The Mee Pok starts from S$4, and the main difference between the S$4 and S$5 is that the latter comes with fish dumpling (“Hee Kiaw”) and probably more Mee Pok noodle.

We ordered both sizes to compare the difference in ingredients. You get slices of fish cake, a few fish balls (the fish ball sizes are the smaller version), fish dumpling for the S$5 portion, and a generous portion of Mee Pok noodle even for the S$4 version.

The Mee Pok itself has an al dente texture, and I must say the flavour gets better if you toss the noodles with the chilli sambal. Yes, without chilli the noodle itself is not that flavourful.

Rants Be prepared for a longer queue at this stall in the hawker centre as compared to the others. It is not a big hawker centre so it might also take awhile to find a table. If you dislike Mee Pok, this stall is not for you too.

Will I Return Again? A very decent bowl of Mee Pok in Marine Terrace to satisfy my Mee Pok craving. It is great that 132 Traditional Teochew Noodles is located just 3 minutes’ walk from Marine Terrace MRT Station, and this is easily one of the more popular stalls in this food centre.
