Food Review: Steak Sudaku Telok Ayer | Affordable Japanese Omi Beef From S$16.80 In CBD
The Place Located at Boon Tat Street in Telok Ayer precinct, Steak Sudaku is a brand from Japan which only opened its first outlet in Killiney Road early this year, where it specialises in offering Omi beef at affordable prices. Steak Sudaku Telok Ayer outlet is the brand’s third outlet in Singapore (Beach Road and Killiney Road being the other two) and it is a casual setting with a few regular tables, and mainly counter seating overlooking the open kitchen where the grilling of the beef takes place.

Steak Sudaku is the largest Omi beef importer in both Singapore and Japan (from Shiga Prefecture), which is the reason it can offer Omi beef at from S$16.80!

The Food Recognised as the oldest and most historically renowned wagyu in Japan, Omi beef is known for its delicate marbling and tenderness.
Signature bestsellers at Steak Sudaku include the likes of Omi Beef Steak, Omi Beef Diced Steak, and the crowd favourite Omi Beef Hamburg. Sides include Omi Beef Garlic Butter Rice, and the newest item on their menu is Omi Beef Gyukatsu.

I had their A5 Grade Marbled Omi Beef Steak ($39.8/150g) which comes in a sizzling hot plate served along with some greens. True to its name, the steak is highly marbled and fatty where you can expect a very tender texture.

The Sudaku Premium Marbled Omi Beef Gyukatsu (S$42.8) is crispy on the outside and medium-rare inside, and suits those who love the golden-brown crisp texture of a katsu meat.

Alternatively, the Premium A5 Omi Beef 100% Hamburg (S$26.8/150g) is the least fatty of the lot as compared to the steak and gyukatsu, since it is pretty much minced meat patty. Regardless, it is a competent version of beef hamburg to enjoy.

If you need some carbs, be warned that the Omi Beef Garlic Butter Rice (S$17.8) is very buttery and a tad too greasy for me.

Rants Be warned as the space could get a little smoky as the grilling is done over the open kitchen.
Will I Return Again? For a taste of Omi beef, I must say the prices are very affordable. If you like a fatty and tender beef, this is one spot to try in the heart of CBD.
