Food Scoops: Where To Eat In Keong Saik Road | Best Restaurants To Check Out In Keong Saik

Keong Saik, Singapore – One of the streets and precinct in Singapore where you can find a varied list of good restaurants, Keong Saik Road is a foodie street right smack in between Chinatown and Outram Park Station. Here is a list of some of our top recommendations on this charming road.

FOC Restaurant
After 11 years on Hongkong Street, FOC Restaurant has found its new home at Keong Saik Road. The new space of FOC Restaurant has a capacity of 54 seats and can now host bigger groups at one seating. There is also a more spacious private dining room which comfortably seats up to 16 guests. The Spanish restaurant is known for its authentic Catalan flavours where you can expect an elevated menu of familiar Catalan dishes reimagined the FOC way such as Toasted Bread with Tomatoes (S$6/2 pieces), ‘Patatas Bravas’ FOC Style (S$6/2 pieces) and Seafood ‘Senyoret’ Paella (S$42). Nikuya Tanaka Singapore
Are you a fan of Kobe beef? A new Japanese omakase restaurant has opened at Teck Lim Road. Meet Nikuya Tanaka Singapore, the first international outpost of the award-winning steakhouse from Tokyo’s Ginza district. Nikuya Tanaka Singapore is discreetly located on level two of the shophouse unit, and it spots a contemporary and minimalist interior.  Only tasting menus are offered for lunch and dinner where lunch is priced at S$280 & S$360, while dinner is at S$420 & S$550. Acqua e Farina @ Keong Saik
Good and unpretentious Italian food, this is Acqua e Farina’s second outlet with a slightly different menu from its Rail Mall outlet. I highly recommend the Tagliatelle al Cacao con Gamberetti e Nduja (S$36), which features handmade cocoa pasta. Pastas aside, save space for the pizza, particularly the Montanara (S$34), their version of a deep-fried pizza which is delicious. Weekday set lunch menu available from S$28++ for 3-courses along with a choice of coffee or tea.  [Read more here…]

GU:UM
This is a Korean-touched contemporary grill concept by NAE:UM Group. GU:UM is not a Korean BBQ restaurant. Instead, you can expect Korean flavours in their dishes with a contemporary twist. Choose from an a la carte menu or you can opt for the Guum Sang set menu which goes for S$168++ per person. I would say the a la carte menu is more ideal for small groups, while the set menu is worth considering if it is for a couple. [Read more here…]

Maggie’s
Maggie’s took over the space of the now-defunct Hevel and it is also by the same team behind Marcy’s. The interior of the restaurant was transformed totally into a quintessential retro Chinese vibe, where I spotted flaying dragon, antique vases, China table wares, and more. Maggie’s is a bold and offbeat take on regional Chinese flavours which are reimagined, and honestly nothing like what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant. It coined itself as ‘An Almost Chinese’ bistro that plays by no one’s rules. [Read more here]

Sushi Zen
An eight-seater Japanese omakase restaurant run by Beijing’s renowned sushi Chef-Owner E Ran, where the restaurant is opened for lunch and dinner with only set menus. Ingredients are sourced from Toyosu Market and flown to Singapore four times a week. Lunch omakase starts from S$150++ while dinner is from S$258++. [Read more here…]

Nomada
Located on Keong Saik Road, Nomada is a new modern Spanish restaurant helmed by Chef Gonzalo Landin who was previously the Executive Chef at Binomio. Expect a contemporary take on Spanish food where the menu revolves around sharing plates of starters, mains and desserts. The Foie Gras & Figs Rice (S$68), which comes with cubes of delicious foie gras on top of the crisp paella served on a huge iron pan, is one of my top picks. Pasta Bar
Located right beside Olivia is Pasta Bar, an Italian restaurant which serves more than ten types of homemade pasta. The main highlight at Pasta Bar is the bar area, where diners get to sit around the bar and watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen. The Tortelli shaped like wanton and filled with pumpkin over sage sauce is the must try dish here. [Read more here…]

Olivia Restaurant & Lounge
Olivia Restaurant & Lounge is a relatively new Barcelona restaurant housed within the gorgeous space of KeSa House. Run by ex-Catalunya Singapore Chef Alain Devahive, expect a solid menu of Barcelona dishes with some of our favourites being the Mushroom and Truffle Croquettes, Beef, Foie Gras Carpaccio with Truffle Dressing and Roasted Meat Canelon with Parmesan Cream. The gorgeous space is another reason to head back for me. [Read more here…]

Esquina
With a good reputation of being one of the best Spanish Tapas restaurant in Singapore, this shophouse restaurant offers a small and big plates concept on its menu. Expect a good mix of snacks like Iberico Croquette to mains like Grilled Spanish Octopus and Spanish Suckling Pig. Set menus are also available. [Read more here…]

Bar Cicheti
One of the hottest spots in Keong Saik for pastas, Bar Cicheti was revamped this year and despite been around for a couple of years, it is still as popular. The menu is a selection of dishes – To Start(antipasti), To Slurp (pasta), and To Savour (dessert), and there is a good variety of dishes to choose from. In terms of beverage, the wine list is an interesting mix of old and new world wines, which complements the dishes very well. [Read more here…]
