Food Review: World Wagyu Club (WWC) Singapore | Exclusive Members-Only Wagyu Omakase Restaurant

The Place A rather secret location in Singapore. I was asked by a friend if I was keen to try World Wagyu Club (WWC), a members-only dining establishment from Japan. Out of respect for the concept, I am not encouraged to name the location specifically (let’s just say it is a convenient location in town), and this six months old concept in Singapore is created in partnership with Ginkakuji Onishi which is behind Astons, and Japan’s Shinshinkiei which operates over 50 members-only restaurants in Tokyo.

It is a sleek space at World Wagyu Club Singapore, where the dining space are all private rooms to fit different group sizes like 6 or 8 pax. As the name suggests, wagyu beef is the highlight here and you can expect personalised and dedicated staff to grill the meats for you. It is essentially a bespoke yakiniku experience.

So here begs the question, how do I become a member? According to their Facebook page, there is no membership fee; however, registration is subject to certain conditions. Availability is extremely limited, and once capacity is reached, they will no longer be able to accept new members or reservations. To register your interest, try dropping their Instagram account a DM: Instagram: @wwc_singapore.

Otherwise, befriend someone who is a member and tag along.

The Food There are a few set menus here where I had their Platinum Menu (S$240). The beverage menu is also something to consider where at S$28, you get unlimited pours of non-alcoholic drinks such as Aomori Apple Juice, and alcoholic drinks which include Sake, Red Wine, White Wine, Gin, Vodka, and more.

Here is what to expect from the Platinum Menu:

Appetisers
First up is a trio of appetisers as follows:

Assorted Kimchi & Namul

WWC Salad Wagyu Bresaola

Wagyu Tartare with Seafood

Salt Beef Grilled (4 types)
The next part of the meal is where the highlight of dining here begins. Each cut of the beef is brought and shown to us before the chef expertly grilled it before us. It is also noteworthy that the whole experience is relatively smokeless and odourless.

Thick-Cut Wagyu Tongue Tip
This is the only cut here which uses Australian beef instead of Japanese beef, and it is delicious. The intent is to start with a cut which is less fatty, as the rest of the courses showcase the fattier Japanese wagyu beef.

Thick-Cut Wagyu Outside Skirt

Today’s Selected Wagyu with Ponzu

Thick-Cut Wagyu Fillet sand
One of my favourite courses. The thick slab of beef is sandwiched in a soft brioche bun, and topped with Kaluna Queen caviar. Life is complete.

Sauce Grilled Beef
The last part of the wagyu meat course focuses on sauces on the meat before it is grilled.

Selected Wagyu with Chers Sauce and Uni

Wagyu Beef Rice Bowl With Truffle
A perfect end to the meal – rich marbled beef with shaved black truffles and onsen egg.

Soup – Wagyu Broth

Cold Dish – Japanese cold Noodles

Dessert – Okinawan Brown Sugar Ice Cream

Rants The members-only rule is a double-edged sword. It makes the concept more exclusive, but that also means that it is not easily accessible as well.

Will I Return Again? Overall, the wagyu beef quality is good. I like that it is in a private room with great privacy, and their free-flow drinks package is great if you can drink a great deal. While there are a few wagyu-centric omakase restaurants in Singapore, this is the most exclusive concept so far, and the privacy and exclusivity of dining here is a highlight by itself.
