Food Review: Medusa Osteria Romana At JW Marriott Hotel, South Beach Road
The Place Located at JW Marriott Hotel at South Beach Road, I checked out Medusa Osteria Romana, the third and latest concept by Fortuna Group following Fortuna Italian Trattoria & Pizzeria and Fortuna Terrazza Cafe. The Italian restaurant is a tenant of building and not managed by the hotel.

The first thing which struck me was the loud red hue theme of Medusa where its interior is a play on Rome’s 1960s vintage luxury era – crimson walls, LED lights and cheeky portraits. The concept is also Singapore’s first-ever Osteria Romana with a focus on Roman cuisine.

The Food I started with the Burrata Fritta (S$26) which presents burrata quite differently as it is a fried version. The burrata has a nice crisp texture and flavour along with carbonara cream, black pepper, guanciale and lemon zest.

For pasta, the Tonnarelli (S$28) is a classic Roman Cacio & Pepe where you get a good mix of Pecorino Cheese and Roasted Black Pepper. Hearty and flavourful.

I also had the Felluccine (S$36) Alfredo with Butter & Parmigiano Reggiano 24 Months and topped with shaved truffle. I love my creamy pasta more than tomato-based ones in general, which is why I still enjoyed this despite being a similar creamy profile as the Tonnarelli.

I had to try a pizza, and I settled for the Mortazza & Pistachio (S$35). This is a fried pizza texture so you can expect a firmer texture – it is a combination of mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio crumbs, pistachio mayo and basil!

Rants The bold bright red interior might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Will I Return Again? A mid-range dining option in Cityhall area if you are looking for Italian food, the space of Medusa is ideal for group meals or a casual date. It is a diverse menu with a good mix of pastas and pizzas so there is bound to be something for everyone.
