Hotel Review: Voco Bangkok Surawong, Deluxe Room | First Voco Hotel Property In Thailand In Silom District
The Hotel Bangkok has no shortage of hotels, but Voco Bangkok Surawong manages to carve out a niche in the bustling Silom district. Tucked along Surawong Road in the Silom–Bang Rak district, Voco Bangkok Surawong is the first Voco brand in Thailand which only opened in January 2026. The location of the hotel is formerly Tawana Hotel, and it boasts 244-rooms.

The hotel’s location sits close to Lumphini Park, Chulalongkorn University, and the wider Silom business and nightlife zone, where the nearest BTS station is Sala Daeng.

The lobby spots bright yellow hues and is welcoming and spacious, with ample seats to take a rest.

The Room I stayed in the Deluxe Room which is a modest 25 sq. m. – 25 sq. m.. The layout is straightforward and basic, where it is an open concept bathroom with the bedroom. Don’t get me wrong, you still get doors for your shower.

Wardrobe space is decent and open concept as well, and there is also a round work desk for business travellers.

It is great that there are charging points on both sides of the bed.

The not-so-great parts for me is the design of the bathroom. The space where the sink is (no double vanity sinks as well) and the shower door is quite tight.

The Facilities Located on level two is the outdoor Pool which is compact yet pleasant — more suited for a cooling dip than serious swimming — while the 24-hour gym on level three is bright and functional, though equipment is quite limited with only one bench.

The Restaurants There are two main restaurants in the hotel – Deckles Smokehouse, known for its slow-smoked BBQ, and Tasca Sabio – a Spanish-inspired bar and dining spot serving tapas-style bites and cocktails.

My booking comes with breakfast which takes place at Deckles Smokehouse located on level two. In all honesty, the breakfast spread exceeded my expectations as there is a lot to take in.

Well-varied cooked food station and pastries in a very spacious setting, and you can order your eggs at your table and pass your orders to the staff.

Rants As mentioned above, the bathroom section of the room is not very well-designed. Service is also patchy, where I asked for a late check out which was granted but my room key was not extended.
Overall Experience As one of the newest IHG hotels in Silom, go for Voco Bangkok Surawong for its location and practical proximity to nightlife, massages and food. It was a decent stay, not amazingly luxurious but it works for a basic stay if you need not spend too much time in the hotel.
