The Place Located opposite SMU, Blue Label Tavern is the latest new concept of Blue Label Pizza where the new tavern concept spots a more relaxed and casual gastropub ambience. It is quite a different vibe to their Ann Siang or Mandarin Gallery outlets as the Stamford Road space is more spacious from the higher ceiling and open concept design, which is quite apt given that it is near a university.

The Food While the pizza selections and sizes (10 inch vs 12 inch at other outlets) are smaller at this outlet, there are dishes exclusive to the tavern concept.

For a start, the BLP Buttermilk Chicken Dunks (S$15) are an addictive snack to go along with their beer on tap if you fancy a drink.

I tried their very first BLP*SMU Smash Burger (S$18) which uses a secret sauce along with shaved onion, shredded lettuce & pepper jack cheese. The patty is juicy and a pretty decent smash burger.

I also went for the outlet exclusive The Flying Chicken Plate (S$19/S$38, half/whole) which features slow-brined chicken where the meat is tender.

For pizza, the options are less than Blue Label Pizza. I had their J-Dog (S$29) pizza which is topped with pork sausage, bacon, pepperoni, capers, jalapeño and red sauce. It is a flavour which is quite safe to go for if you like something punchy and not too cheesy.

Rants For those unfamiliar with the brand, it might not be very clear what’s the distinction between Blue Label Tavern and Blue Label Pizza outlets.

Will I Return Again? I love the food at Blue Label Pizza, and it is great to see a slightly more casual tavern concept in Cityhall area. Prices are reasonable, and the space is great for big groups if you are looking to have a good time.
