The Place Mediterranean restaurant Esmirada is located just outside Orchard Hotel along Orchard Road. It prides itself as serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine with the likes of some Moroccan fare. I only get to know about this place because of the existing dining promotion with the Palate card, which entitles diners to discounts of up to 50% depending on the number of people. There is the alfresco dining area which offers views of cars along Orchard Road.

For a more mystical dining experience, I would suggest taking the interior air-conditioned seats where the lighting is dimmed to romantic perfection. It does feel like I am in Morocco, especially with the Mediterranean music playing along.

The Food For appetisers, we had the Burgundy Escargot ($15) and the Oxtail Soup ($10). The half dozen Escargot is served in the usual sizzling pan fashion, well marinated and taken perfectly with the mushrooms masked beneath each Escargot.

The Oxtail Soup is very tasty as well, just a little on the salty side. Otherwise, the tenderness of the beef is just right.

For mains, I tried the Wagyu Beef Skewer ($36) as I thought that it is an authentic Mediterranean fashion to serve the meat this way. The Wagyu Beef is mixed with Eggplants and Onions to offer a more balanced diet I supposed. I had the Wagyu Beef done medium rare and I really love the taste of the Beef as it is sufficiently succulent and tender at the same time.

The other mains we had was the Sirloin Steak ($39) which is equally awesome. Done medium rare as well, the Steak is tender and juicy.

Will I return again? Most likely. The quality of the food is high and the location is accessible. However, I will probably return if there are similar dining promotions in future as the price is relatively steep.
