Food Review: Itacho Sushi

The Place Itacho is no stranger to most people as it has been around in Singapore for a few years. As the Sister company of Itame in Hong Kong, the debut outlet of Itacho was in Ion Orchard and it has been expanding since then due to its insane popularity among Singaporeans. Contrary to the norm, it is possible to enjoy a really economical meal at Itacho if you know what to order exactly.

The Food The list of bargain food to order at Itacho which I am about to share is specially for Salmon lovers.
There are some food items which are perpetually on the promotional list of Itacho such as the 40 cents Salmon with Soy Sauce Sushi promotion, which never fails to tempt me.

An interesting observation is that when this promotion was rolled out few years back, the order was unlimited for customers so you can potentially order 100 rolls of the 40 cents Sushi if your appetite is up to it. Then the order limit came down to 6 pieces per customer about 1 year ago. When I last visited Itacho this month, each customer is only entitled to order 2 pieces of the 40 cents Salmon with Soy Sauce Sushi.

For the current promotion items, I had the Salmon with Soy Sauce (40 cents/roll, limited to 2 pieces for each customer) and Smoked Salmon with Black Pepper ($1.60/roll, unlimited order). The Salmon with Soy Sauce is really value for money; if only there is no limit to how much we can order. Moving to the regular menu, the Roasted Salmon Sushi ($1.20/roll) in Itacho is one of the nicest of its kind, almost in par with the ones from Itame in Hong Kong.

Salmon with Soy Sauce Sushi & Roasted Salmon Sushi

As for the Smoked Salmon with Black Pepper, I thought that it is a rather novel creation.

The Salmon with Seafood and Veg Salad Roll ($2.80/plate for 2 rolls) is not too bad a choice as well.

The only non-Salmon Sushi I had was the Fried Shrimp Roll ($2.50/plate for 2 rolls).

Total bill after GST and Service charge amounted to $18.80 for 2 pax, not too bad a deal I must say! I was not 100% full from the meal but I must profess that it is satisfying enough for me.
Will I return again? For affordable Sushi cravings, I am more than willing to.
