The Place It’s hard to find a crêpe cafe in Singapore, so it was quite refreshing for me to stumble upon The Daily Roundup along Keong Saik Road, part of the The Working Capitol building and work space. The cafe design is modern and simple, with no fancy theme yet it still feels cosy. Serving mainly sweet crêpes and savoury galettes, the focus of The Daily Roundup is clear.
The Food We tried the highly raved Yuzu Butter ($10) crepe topped with butter and drizzled with sugar. Boasting the use of 100% organic buckwheat flour from Brittany in France, the Yuzu Butter crêpe was a delight to have, with the right tinge of citrusy yuzu which I do not think I can find in nay other cafe in Singapore. I opted to add a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream ($4), something I highly recommend as the quality of the vanilla ice-cream was good, and it complimented the crêpe well.
Being greedy, we also tried the Smoked Salmon ($14) galette with crumbled hardboiled egg and homemade crème fraiche. Unfortunately, this dish did not quite work for as as we found the galette to be rather bland. Both the crumbled hardboiled egg and homemade crème fraiche failed to compliment the galette as well. I would have preferred if it was paired with a sunny side-up egg instead.
Coffee wise, we were satisfied with our Latte ($5) and Flat White ($5) which had a smooth texture and did not taste too acidic for us. The latte art was evidently bad though.
Rants Do not expect a fully fledged brunch menu here, which may be limited if crêpes or galettes are not your type of food.
Will I Return Again? Skip the galettes, go for the sweet crêpes instead. At least that is what I will stick to ordering the next round I am back. Add that good cup of coffee as well.
