The Place Tucked away in the western part of Singapore, Carne & Caipirinha seeks to bring the true Brazilian charcoal-meats into Singapore with its first restaurant at Sunset Way, Clementi. Diners can expect to eat their meats with some views of nature, something the owners seek to bring across as part of the dining experience. The place is only open in the evening for dinner, understandably so, since there are only al fresco seats – and I am sure you wouldn’t enjoy dining as much during the hot daytime!
And if you are wondering what does Carne & Caipirinha means, Carne is Meat in Portuguese and Caipirinha is the name of the Brazil’s national cocktail, which is also served here at Carne & Caipirinha!
The Food It feels similar to other Brazilian meat houses in Singapore, free flow meats served by the chefs at your table. The chefs will rotate the meats at random and serve only upon request. With 14 kinds of charcoal meats and seafood to indulge in, this buffet will be sure to set your waistline bursting at only $49.90++ per pax. Here’s a tip, start eating before 7pm from Monday to Saturday or 6pm on Sundays and Public Holidays, and you will get to enjoy a $10 discount off each diner. Don’t say we never share this good news!
The meats selections include our favourite Beef, Chicken, Pork and Lamb. All charcoal-grilled, the meats generally pack a strong flavour, albeit being a tad dry due to the cooking method. My favourite will be the Beef Rump Cap (Picanha in Portuguese), juicier as with the layer of fats sizzling the meats while it is being cooked. Make sure you give the Chicken Heart (Galinha de Coracao) a try as well, yes you are reading it right, it’s the heart. Slightly more dense and powdery, Carne & Caipirinha does this well enough for any first-timers to enjoy if they are adventurous enough.
Go for the Grilled Pineapple and Garlic Bread when the chef heads out from the kitchen! Excellent compliments to the meat-intense meal.
Not to worry, there are other lighter selections in the buffet, from salad options to staples such as Penne Pasta and Garlic Rice.
And maybe try some Brazilian cocktail to wash down all the meat?
Rants We were there during the peak of the haze, and having only outdoor seats does little to help diners enjoy the otherwise good meal.
Will I Return Again? Meat Lovers, please line up. Good spread, very decent meats, affordable pricing and friendly chefs! I am planning a return trip and making very sure I get there to enjoy the early bird discount!
