Food Review: Flavours at Zhongshan Park | It’s a ‘Hawkerlicious’ buffet affair at Ramada Singapore

Flavours at Zhongshan Park

The Place It seems like hawker theme buffet is the trend this year, including Flavours at Zhongshan Park which has launched its ‘Hawkerlicious’ lunch and dinner buffets with a strong focus on our local cuisine. Flavours at Zhongshan Park is located within Ramada Singapore in the Balastier precinct, which spots a contemporary interior for dining.

The Food
The main highlight at the ‘Hawkerlicious’ buffet for me is the semi-buffet ‘zichar’, where you get to pick your choice of seafood such as prawns, clams, mud crabs and snapper fish and have the chef cook it the way you want. You can then choose from the chef’s signature sauces such as Black Pepper, Salted Egg Yolk, Assam Curry Sauce and Ginger and Onion Sauce to go along with the seafood. My favourite picks are the Salted Egg Yolk and Black Pepper sauces, which both go well with the crab.

The buffet area is not that big as compared to other hotel buffets, so don’t come expecting a huge spread.

There is a limited seafood and Japanese counter, alongside the hawker delights such as Char Kway Teoh, Oyster Omelette and a D.I.Y Noodles station where you can whip up your own Nonya Laksa, Penang Assam Laksa or Prawn Noodles, which will be on rotational basis.

There is also a roast meat station featuring Chef’s time-honed recipe for the Barbeque Char Siew and Roasted Pork Belly.

Rants Ramada Hotel’s location is not that accessible if you are taking public transport. However, I understand that there is a hotel shuttle from Novena station.

Will I Return Again? Overall, the buffet quality here at Flavours at Zhongshan Park is decent. For its price, it is unfair to compare it to other five star hotel buffet lines at 30-50% higher price. If you are looking for a family gathering spot, the current ‘Hawkerlicious’ theme is not a bad idea, especially with the unlimited ‘Zi Char’ style orders which can really be a bang for your buck.
