Snippets: A new 5-tier Afternoon Tea journey experience at Colony, The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore

What’s Buzzing? We tried Colony at Ritz-Carlton previously for its Sunday Brunch Buffet (read our full review here), not knowing that the all-day dining restaurant does serve Afternoon Tea as well. Available every Monday to Saturday from 3:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m, the Afternoon Tea affair here is a pretty five-tier ceramic tiffin, inclusive of unlimited servings of desserts at The Patisserie. The tiffin (known as ‘tingkat’ in Malay language) idea is an interesting presentation from the typical three-tier set, as the theme revolves around Singapore’s heritage cuisine.

The Highlights We love the luxe Lobster Quiche and Pumpkin Cake with Chilli Crab Meat Sauce from the five-tier Tiffin set. The serving seems small but we were filled at the end of our session after having the wide spread of patisserie selections.

The dessert corner should suffice the majority, where the selection changes periodically. While we went over the Christmas period, it was mainly festive treats such as log cakes though there was also some local delights such as Peranakan kuehs.

Food aside, each diner can order the Colony’s custom tea blend with a choice of tea syrup enhancement such as lavender or French rose.  The Afternoon Tea is also inclusive of a flute of Möet & Chandon Brut Imperial Champagne.

Rants At S$49++ per person, which includes a glass of champagne, this is not so much of a great deal if you are not a champagne drinker, without the option of not having the champagne at a lower price.

Overall Experience Colony is probably one of the prettiest all-day dining restaurant in a hotel in Singapore. The ambience is nice, quality of food is consistent and we think this is one of the better Afternoon Tea we had in awhile. What’s more, who can resist a glass of harmless champagne over high tea?

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own.
