Hotel Review: Novotel Singapore on Stevens | Accor’s latest hotel in Singapore, its fifteenth!

The Place Located just minutes drive away from Orchard Road, the brand new complex consisting of both Mercure Singapore and Novotel Singapore on Stevens opened late in 2017, and it features some of latest restaurants concepts in Singapore too – including one of our current favourite restaurants, Fisk Seafoodbar & Market. Despite not being near to any MRT stations, you will be happy to know that the hotel provides twice hourly shuttle services between the hotel and Orchard Road.

With 250 rooms at Novotel Singapore, and more than 500 rooms at Mercure Singapore, the hotel caters for both business and travellers who are looking to stay in a centralised location.

The Room We checked ourselves into the Premier Room at Novotel Singapore, with Premier Lounge access. Our room, at the highest floor of the hotel, gives us a nice view of the Stevens Road and Newton estate, and the infinity swimming pool no less. The spacious room spots a contemporary decor and soothing colours and at 23sqm, you get all the essentials you could expect from a four-star hotel, and more.

The Premier Room comes with the Premier Lounge access, which is opened from 6.30am to 10.30pm, where you can enjoy all-day drinks and snacks. Free alcohol and light bites are available between 6pm to 8pm as well. Frankly, I feel that it would be ideal for guests on staycation to check themselves into rooms with lounge access, since the primary purpose is most likely to unwind for the weekend. If the corridor walk to the lounge takes too much of an effort for you, there is complimentary in-room minibar and Nespresso coffee in the room.

The Facilities The beauty of the property is that you get to enjoy the facilities of both Novotel and Mercure hotels. The Novotel’s Infinity Pool faces the greenery of the neighbouring Balmoral Park private residences, and on the other end of the property, you get to dip into Mercure’s 35-meters lap pool. Whether you are looking to laze in the water or perhaps do some serious lap swims, you can finally enjoy the best of both properties in the Accor’s project here.

For fitness fanatics, the Inbalance Fitness Centre is one of the most well-equipped and spacious hotel gym I have come across in Singapore. The gym is opened 24/7, so you do get to give yourself some adrenaline rush any time during your stay. Even if you are not a gym rat, I do implore you to give this modern facility a chance. And yes, there is a tennis court available in the property if that’s how you swing.

The Restaurant The all-day dining concept restaurant, Food Exchange, gets you the Infinity Pool views and lots of natural lighting. For breakfast, expect Continental selections and local Singaporean delights including Noodle Soup. Oh yes, and if you checked into a Premier Room, you have an option to enjoy your breakfast at the comfort and privacy of the Premier Lounge.

The lobby level’s L’Aperitif Tapas Bar is the hotel’s lobby lounge, with Mercure’s Fudebar located right at the opposite lobby of the building.

Within the same complex, you get to enjoy other tenant restaurants as well, including fresh Scandinavian seafood at Fisk Seafoodbar & Market, or Blue Lotus’ Chinese Grill House. We also saw Long Beach renovating its fifth outlet in Singapore, whom pride themselves as the creator of Singapore’s popular Black Pepper Crab.

Rants It is not the most convenient of location, although the twice hourly shuttle service brings guests to and fro Orchard Road. In fact, we took the shuttle service to Orchard for dinner, and did a leisure 15 minutes walk back to the hotel.

Overall Experience My stay at Novotel Singapore on Stevens was nothing short of rejuvenating. The facilities are on point, while the room’s decor makes me feel at ease and at home. I do wish that the breakfast buffet focused more on quality rather than quantity. Having said that, the centralised location nestled amongst the private residences estate does give me some quiet respite from the busy city life.
