Food Review: Meatsmith Little India at Campbell Lane | American barbecue and Indian flavour meats beautifully

The Place I have been to Meatsmith at Telok Ayer previously and have always liked the grilled meat concept. On my recent stay at Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon, I finally managed to check out its sister outlet Meatsmith Little India along Campbell Lane. The charming restaurant occupies a corner shophouse space with three levels. The first level is where the open concept kitchen is, where there are both indoor and outdoor tables in a rustic setting. I love it, except for the fact that there is no air-conditioning.

Moving to level two, the space transforms into an air-conditioned bar counter along with a rustic chic interior. I would recommend reserving this level if you are heat intolerant.

As for level three, it is more like a private space where you can have drinks and chill.

The Food The concise menu is a different concept from the Telok Ayer branch, where the dishes here generally have Indian elements. Some of the dishes to expect are the likes of Tandoori Chicken Wings, Coconut Chutney Pork Ribs, Biryani Suckling Pig and Kerala Beef Short Rib.

We started with the Bone Marrow Curry (S$16), a snack which is served with naan. The portion of the bone marrow is not big, but it goes well with the plain naan. Expect a fatty and delicious bone marrow here!

For mains, we had the Spit Roasted Butter Chicken (S$45 for 2). This was highly recommended by the staff, and no regrets for having it for me. The butter sauce comes separately, then drizzled over the chicken before the staff helped us to slice the meat. The meat is very tender and juicy, while the butter sauce adds that Indian element to the dish in a good way. The portion is just right for two as well.

Rants Wouldn’t mind if the level one gets some cool air-conditioning.

Will I Return Again? Meatsmith is a good restaurant in Little India which I would be back again for its other meats. That said, I would drag along a few more people to enjoy a more varied dishes.
