Hotel Review: Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore | Spacious One-Bedroom Apartment for a Weekend Staycation

The Hotel Opened in mid-2017, Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore is an award-winning luxury serviced apartment in Tanjong Pagar. The lift lobby of the 268-unit property is in Tower One of the OUE Downtown development. The hotel’s entrance is located close to the Takayama restaurant at level one of the mall, taking the lift up to the hotel lobby on level seven, which is also the main floor where most of the facilities are located.

As a serviced apartment, there was previously a minimum of six nights stay requirement but the good news is that this is no longer required. The property has successfully obtained a hotel license this year, which is good news if you have been eyeing on this property for a short stay in Singapore, or for a weekend staycation.

The Room Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore has recently launched the Weekend Staycation with an introductory rate from S$280++ per night for the Studio or One-Bedroom Apartments. I checked into the spacious One-Bedroom Apartment on level 31, which at 55 sqm, is a luxury of space for Singapore’s context. Upon stepping into the apartment, the kitchenette is on the right which caters to guest who wish to do some light cooking. It also comes with a refrigerator which is definitely big enough to store food ingredients and drinks. The living room comes with Bluetooth sound system, comfortable sofa, TV, and a dining table.

The design of the bedroom is a pleasant surprise for me. Spotting a contemporary interior with neutral colour tones, I like the ample natural light in the room from the full glass window panes, which offers a view of the Central Business District. The bed is firm enough for me, as well as the pillows where I had a good night sleep. There is also a Samsung mobile phone and tablet in the room which guests could use to surf the internet.

If you are lucky enough and depending on the facing of the apartment you book, I had a very good sea view from the bathroom. One of the fortunate part of the bathroom is that it also comes with windows where you can enjoy the view of the sea and port. Of course, there is always the option of drawing down the blinds if you are less of an exhibitionist. The dark grey walls and finishings of the bathroom is something I appreciate, as it lends it a sophisticated look and extremely comfortable to take a good bath under the rain shower.

The Facilities For a fitness junkie like me who have to balance weight and food very closely, I am very pleased with the fitness facilities here. For one, the outdoor infinity pool is very inviting. You get a good view of the sea even from level seven, and it is a good length and width for some serious lap swims. There are ample sun deck chairs for the suntan goers, and you can also request for the gigantic floats for that insta-worthy pool shot 30 minutes in advance from the staff.

While the gym is not that big, it is well-equipped with three threadmills, weighs machine and a range of dumbbells. Yoga mats are also available if you want to practise your flexibility.

The Restaurants For the Weekend Staycation Package, it comes with complimentary breakfast for two persons at SE7ENTH, which is the all-day dining and only restaurant in the property. The breakfast buffet spread is quite decent given the space constraints, where you have the usual egg live stations, bread and pastries, as well as some local delights.

Breakfast aside, SE7ENTH serves a contemporary western menu for lunch and dinner, where you can expect chicken wings, pasta, burger on its menu. I love the Fried Chicken with Truffle Maple Sauce!

There is also a small bar corner on level seven, where you can redeem the Signature welcome cocktails at The Bar for the Weekend Staycation Package.

Rants The space at The Bar is not the most ideal as there are only a couple of tables with limited capacity.

Overall Experience In most aspects, my stay at Oakwood Premier OUE Singapore exceeded my initial expectations as I was under the impression that it would not match up to other hotel experiences. The housekeeping is very well done from the cleanliness of my apartment, while the facilities are good enough to while the afternoon away.

The Weekend Staycation starts from an introductory rate from S$280++ per night for the Studio or One-Bedroom Apartments, which includes the following privileges:

  • Complimentary room upgrade to the next sub-category and late check-out (subject to availability)
  • Complimentary breakfast for two persons at SE7ENTH
  • Signature welcome cocktails for two persons at The Bar
  • Access to Outdoor Infinity Pool and Fitness Centre
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi services and usage of in-room tablet or mobile phone
