Chef Kang Prawn Noodle House
After opening Chef Kang’s Noodle House, the Michelin Star Chef Kang is back in Toa Payoh with his latest venture, Chef Kang Prawn Noodle House. Located beneath a HDB block in Toa Payoh Lorong 4, there was a short queue when I checked out the casual eatery on a weekend morning. The interior is basic, with air-conditioning which makes the dining more comfortable. (Read more here…)

Located within the Connexion integrated development in Farrer Park, Jia He Chinese Restaurant just recently opened in late November. The restaurant faces the Race Course Road and is easily accessible from One Farrer Hotel. Despite being a very new Chinese restaurant, the kitchen team consists of experienced chefs with previous stints in hotel and established Chinese restaurant names. You can expect a wide range of dishes on the menu, from dim sum to roast meats, soups and other classic Chinese dishes. (Read more here…)

Go Noodle House
Originally from Malaysia, Go Noodle House opened its first outlet in Singapore few weeks ago at the basement of 313 Somerset. I am surprised that this causal noodle restaurant already has 37 outlets in Malaysia and Australia since 2014, started by three good friends. The 70-seater restaurant takes is relatively spacious, and takes on a Qing Dynasty interior where you can spot Kangxi and Qianlong emperor portraits on the wall. (Read more here…)

Caffe Cicheti
The Cicheti Group’s third F&B venture took over the space Fynn’s and focuses on coastal Italian cuisine. Choose from starters, cold cuts, to pasta and mains in a relaxed dining ambience, where prices do not break the bank. The Pesto and Gnocchi pastas are just some of our favourite dishes here.

Kota Zheng Zong Bak Kut Teh
Located at Holland Village, Kota Zheng Zong Bak Kut Teh opened its first branch in Singapore just last month, originating from Kota Tinggi, Malaysia. Stepping into the casual restaurant, you will soon see various old school features, depicting the vibes of its original Malaysia branches. The push-cart outside the restaurant is a tribute to the founding of the chain, back in the old days when the founder sold his Bak Kut Teh on the streets of Kota Tinggi. (Read more here…)

Thanying Reopens at Amara Singapore
The Thai restaurant reopens at the heart of Tanjong Pagar at Amara Singapore, having been closed for a full revamp. Now spotting a more updated polished look, with bright natural light coming through the entire restaurant – which makes you wonder why was the previous setup rather dark. Thanying is back with many of its favourites, and now with a menu comprising of close to 30 vegetarian items. Go back for a more refined take of Thai food, and perhaps one of the rare spots in Singapore where you can actually enjoy a whole suite of traditional Thai desserts.

Omote at Thomson Plaza
If you love value for money Chirashi Don, Sushiro should be a familiar name. Omote, a modern and contemporary space located at level 3 of Thomson Plaza. This brand new concept is the brainchild of the previous Sushiro, which has ceased to operate as a brand and its previous locations in the same mall. Yun Nans at Jewel Changi Airport
The largest Yunnan restaurant chain in the world, Yun Nans is the first overseas outlet outside China under the Yun Hai Yao (云海肴) group. I would have thought that the interior of Yun Nans would lean towards an oriental look, but boy was I wrong. Instead, it has adopted a contemporary interior design, and I like that there is some greenery within the restaurant which draws my mind to the highlands of the China province. (Read more here…)

Lucky House Cantonese Private Kitchen
Private home dining is all the rage these days and looks set to be the latest food trend in 2018, and well into 2019. Was excited to check out my first private home dining experience at Lucky House Cantonese Private Kitchen (陶然居), all thanks to a fellow foodie who managed to secure a table for the eight of us about three months in advance. Lucky House is located at 267 Upper East Coast Road within a terrace house. The kitchen is run by Chef Sam Wong, a self-taught home cook and a fishing enthusiast who has been running his home based kitchen for the past two years. (Read more here…)
