Hotel Review: Amba Taipei Songshan at Taipei, Taiwan | Modern And Chic Hotel With Clear View Of Taipei 101

The Hotel Located conveniently beside the Songshan Station, both a railway and a metro station, Amba Taipei Songshan is one of the 3 Amba properties in the city. Taking on a a what seemingly felt like a more pragmatic design approach to cater for travellers’ needs, Amba Taipei Songshan hotel has an urban chic vibe, with rooms enjoying views of either Taipei city or views of the hills behind the Taipei’s Neihu district.

Unlike many boutique hotels in Taipei, Amba Songshan is a full fledged hotel with facilities including fitness room, laundry services, and a restaurant, Que.

The Room Checked into a Medium Room with 101 View, which is very spacious at 31sqm and an amazing view of Taipei city with Taipei 101. The best things about Amba is that it basically provides everything a traveller may need, and ensure the room is well stocked with the necessities, yet providing an uncluttered living environment. Using less walls and doors, the room adopts an open concept bathroom, with a clothes cabinet framed using just metal mesh.

Privacy is ensured for the washroom and shower rooms with opaque glass doors, so you do not have to worry about that if you are bunking in with friends.

All the furniture, including the window-side lounge chair and work desk are generally low in height, to ensure guests enjoy the unblock views of Taipei 101.

Other thoughtful amenities in the room includes Nespresso machine, local Taiwanese tea bags, and even free Amba-branded slippers for guests to wear and take home! If you are planning to stay-in for the day, the room comes equipped with the local Taiwanese channels on their television, and of course, Netflix and Youtube.

The Facilities While a boutique hotel, Amba Songshan delivers on many fronts with its facilities. Starting off, the hotel has a 24-hour fitness centre. While small, the gym has all the basic equipment to help you burn off the calories from the night markets in Taipei. If you are looking for a longer stay in Taipei, the 24-hour self-service laundry room will come in handy too.

The Restaurant Focusing on woodfired grill, Que gets you the gorgeous view of the hills behind the Neihu district in Taipei. The breakfast spread offers diners an international spread, with some oriental offerings since we are in Taiwan afterall.

The ambience of the restaurant ticks many boxes for us during the stay, a perfect spot to be sipping your coffee in the morning as the city prepares for another day of hustle and bustle. The space, with its high ceiling and views of the cityscape and green hills, works perfect for the grams too.

Rants This is the first time we ventured to the Songshan area for hotel accommodation, which is frankly at the east corner of the main Taipei city itself. Despite its location, the hotel is directly linked via a overhead walkway to the Songshan Station, where you can easily hop on the MRT and Railway line.

Overall Experience The hotel is very well maintained, with immaculate cleaning done to the room when we first check-in. The fun vibe and design of the hotel, coupled with perfect views of Taipei 101 on one side, and the gorgeous green hills on the other, Amba Taipei Songshan delivered well and above.
