Food Review: Super Loco Robertson Quay At The Quayside | Going Mexican With Its New Weekend Brunch Menu

The Place With a few concepts around town by The Loco Group, I checked out Super Loco Robertson Quay for the first time recently ever since it opened at the hip Robertson Quay enclave few years ago. The Robertson Quay space exudes that perfect weekend vibe, where it definitely helps that it is located right beside the river. The indoor interior is decked in colourful hues, well-representing the colourful aspects of Mexican cuisine.

Diners with pets or kids may prefer the outdoor dining area where there is more room to roam around, and is a nice dining setting if the weather is good.

The Food The Robertson Quay outlet just introduced a new weekend brunch menu, and I started with the Super Cheesy Corn Fritters (S$15). It is a delicious mix of sweet corn, jalapeño, coriander, sour cream and avocado.

Beverage wise, there are some pretty exotic cocktails and coffee to choose from, or just stick to something safe like the Coco Mojito (S$15).

The Blue Corn Waffles (S$17) makes a good insta-worthy dish for sure. There is a choice of sweet or savoury and I went for the savoury combination. It is a mix of crispy bacon, fried chicken, sour cream and maple, and my favourite part is the fried and juicy chicken. I would have preferred the waffles to have a firmer texture as it was too soft for my liking.

Other savoury dishes I had were the Feel Good Burrito (S$15) and the Mexican ‘Migas’ Omelette (S$18).

I love eggs, and the omelette dish here contains cheese, tomato salsa verde, avocado and tortillas. It is a good combination, but I thought that the cheese element could be stepped up for the omelette.

The meal ended with a Brownie (S$10) dessert with coconut sorbet.

Rants The outdoor seats can be too warm for comfort on certain days. Otherwise, do reserve well ahead if you prefer to dine indoors.

Will I Return Again? There is a charming vibe around Robertson Quay and a Mexican restaurant like Super Loco Robertson Quay is a nice space for a weekend brunch. Come with an open mind if you are not familiar with Mexican dishes, and you will be surprised.

This was an invited tasting, though all opinions expressed are our own
