Food Scoops: Alchemist The Mill, Jalan Kilang | Good Coffee Hidden At A Gothic Inspired Industrial Building At Bukit Merah

What’s Buzzing? With its flagship space at Khong Guan Industrial Building in Tai Seng, popular coffee brand Alchemist opened its latest outlet over the weekend at an equally interesting building, The Mill. Located along Jalan Kilang, this industrial building stands out from its Gothic design, and no surprise that it is designed by the same architect behind Parkview Square, James Adams Design.

To get to the cafe, take the elevator to level 2 of the building and the main entrance is at the outdoor space. The side door is only for entry during rainy days.

What To Expect? I love the industrial look of the space. The centrestage is no doubt the half-suspended coffee bar, which adds to a futuristic look.

In terms of seating, there are seats by the bar, but the best ones are really the cosy and nicely partitioned pockets of space with added privacy.

Not much food options on the menu to speak of, as the focus is really on the coffee. There is a modest selection of pastries such as plain and almond croissant.

For coffee, there are usually two types of blends to choose from, and I usually just go for the Dark Matter (more nutty and chocolatey).
