Hotel Review: Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay Staycation | Marina Bay View Room With Lush Garden Theme Atrium Lobby

The Hotel After staying at the Parkroyal Collection Pickering, I was keen to stay in Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay after its big revamp from the now-defunct Marina Mandarin. The first impression I had of the property was the “garden-in-a-hotel” theme on the lobby level. Beautiful touches of light wood from the stairway to the bird cage like pavilions at the Atrium Lounge. Lush greenery aplenty as guests walk across the Atrium Sky Bridge, which is the most Instagrammable spot in the hotel.

Do note that parts of the hotel are still undergoing renovations at the moment, particularly the club lounge which is slated to be right beside the swimming pool.

Parkroyal Collection Marina Bay is also part of the GHA group, so you can apply your GHA membership perks if you book directly with the hotel.

The Room I made my booking via Traveloka as they had a pretty good deal, in addition to the fact that I was able to use my SRV for my stay. I booked the Stay and Feast with 100% Dining Credits, which entitled me to S$400 of dining credits. Do note that this package is only valid for stays from Sunday to Thursday up to 30 June 2021.

I checked into the Marina Bay View at a modest size of 31-33sqm (333-360sq-ft). I was struck by how minimalist the design of the room is, mainly decked in wooden and black touches. The interior design is clean and elegant, and it comes with an outdoor balcony if you want to soak in the Marina View.

The only incomplete part I noticed is the lack of a proper work desk for this room category, which is not an issue if you are on a pure leisure trip.

The bathroom is relatively spacious with a standing shower and a bath tub, and there is even a water dispenser right beside the sink. My issue with the bathroom is the standing shower, which is quite small by most hotel standards and to some extent, claustrophobic.

The Restaurants Breakfast takes place at Peppermint, a gorgeous all-day dining restaurant with a farm to table concept. There is an edible garden right beside the restaurant. I had the breakfast buffet during my stay, and it was average in terms of the breakfast offerings at this point.

Atrium Lounge is the space for Afternoon Tea and I did use my dining credits here as well. The presentation of the Afternoon Tea comes in a Instagrammable picnic basket, but that’s about it. The quality is really mediocre, and I do think the basic the staff could do is to explain the items on the set briefly, or give each diner a paper of the Afternoon Tea items. I just had to guess what I was having. Skip this.

The best dining concept in the hotel is definitely Peach Blossoms, a contemporary Chinese restaurant which does not disappoint in terms of the quality of the dishes. This is the best place to spend all your dining credits. I had the Discovery Menu and no regrets. The only downside is the poor pacing of the dishes.

The Facilities The gym is located on the lobby level, which is quite decent in terms of equipment for cardio or weights workout session. If you need a view to motivate your workout, there is no natural light in this gym.

The pool is not that motivating during my stay as there are renovations ongoing for the Club Lounge right beside the pool.

Rants I experienced good service at the front desk and I think the issue lies with the F&B concepts. My impression is a chaotic service during breakfast at Peppermint, lacklustre attention at Atrium Lounge and poor pacing of dishes at Peach Blossoms.

Overall Experience As a GHA Black member, I am keen to see how the club rooms unveil eventually and if it is worthy for me to return to make use of the GHA privileges. I also do hope that the service standards can be improved for a better experience in the future for all guests.
