Food Review: Xiang Xiang Traditional Taiwanese Cuisine | Affordable, Authentic Taiwanese Restaurant In Bedok Point
The Place My love for Taiwanese food brought me to Xiang Xiang Traditional Taiwanese Cuisine, a casual Taiwanese eatery restaurant located in Bedok Point mall. The no-frills setting reminds me of those eateries in Taipei, and ordering is straight forward right at the cashier before you take a buzzer for your food to be ready. The restaurant is operated by a friendly team of Taiwanese crew and has been around in Bedok for a few years.

The Food The menu is equally straight forward, where you will spot familiar Taiwanese dishes at wallet friendly prices. My customary order is the Braised Minced Pork Rice (S$7.80) and for additional S$2 top up, you also get to enjoy the Meatballs Soup. The ‘Lu Rou Fan’ spots a homestyle flavour, not too salty and it is not as flavourful as others I had in Singapore like Eat 3 Bowls. That said, it is a still a good rendition, just that it leans towards a home recipe flavour.

Another popular dish here is the Crispy Chicken Strip Mee Sua (S$6.80), which is a decent portion for sharing. A comforting flavour and take on a classic Taiwanese dish, though it is quite watery in texture. The chicken ingredients are generous though.

You also can’t go wrong with the side dish like the Fried Chicken Strip with Salt & Pepper (S$5), best to down with some of its milk tea options like the Milk Tea with QQ Pearl (S$2.50).

Rants Pretty open restaurant setting if you are one who prefers some dining privacy. Otherwise, it is located at the corner of a relatively quiet heartland mall.
Will I Return Again? A heartwarming family run style Taiwanese restaurant in Singapore, Xiang Xiang Traditional Taiwanese Cuisine is definitely worth checking out if you have always been a fan of the cuisine. We last heard from the owner that they might be moving out of the mall eventually and we hope that it will be able to find a new spot in Singapore. The warm service from the staff reminds me of Taiwanese’s hospitality. Don’t hesitate to head down in the meantime!
