Hotel Review: Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur | Luxurious Hotel In KLCC With A View Of Petronas Twin Towers

The Hotel Located right next to the famous Petronas Twin Towers and adjacent to Suria KLCC Mall, I checked in to the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur for a weekend stay. Luxurious, that is my first impression of MO KL. The lobby area is fairly huge with the check in counter right near the entrance, and it stretches all the way to the end where Mosaic restaurant and Lounge On The Park are located. The hotel is approximately an hour from KLIA (depending on the traffic conditions) and is located right in the heart of the city centre.

The Room My room is the Deluxe City View Room which is very spacious at 40 sqm. Internet speed is fast, with a smart TV along with different types of pillows to choose from.

The bathroom is equally spacious and the marble finishing and flooring add to the luxe factor.

If you managed to book a club room, the Mandarin Oriental Club offers a floor-to-ceiling view of the Petronas Twin Towers. Unfortunately, that wasn’t on my agenda during my visit and I didn’t manage to check out the club lounge.

The Facilities The Fitness and Wellness Centre is extremely conducive for a good workout as it overlooks the lush KLCC Park. I visited the gym twice and it is spacious and relatively quiet. Guests also get access to the steam and sauna area which is quite big by hotel standards.

Otherwise, the outdoor pool offers a good view of the city and park as well.

The Restaurants Breakfast is served at Mosaic, the all-day dining restaurant at MO KL. The buffet spread is extensive to say the least, and it can get really busy in the morning. Thankfully, the breakfast seating area extends to the Lounge On The Park in the morning if you want a quieter space to enjoy your breakfast.

There is also a Cantonese restaurant Lai Po Heen and an Italian grill restaurant Mandarin Grill in the property if you are too lazy to head out. My recommendation is to book a meal at Nadodi instead, a contemporary Indian centric restaurant located within walking distance from MO KL as I had a good dining experience there.

Rants The design of the room could come across as dated to some.

Overall Experience For the price, MO KL is pretty good value (rooms from 539 MYR before taxes) if you are looking for a conveniently located luxurious stay in KL. That said, there is no lack of luxury hotels in KL and I will probably go for another hotel brand on my next visit here.
