The Place One of the most high profile cafe openings this year so far, Supernova is a new cafe located in Tanjong Katong Road, by the same team behind popular cafe spots like Apollo Coffee Bar, Atlas Coffeehouse and Neptune. This stretch of road used to be quite sleepy, but there is a new lease of life injected in the past six months with other new cafes such as Little Rogue Coffee and Bella People & Coffee.

The most charming part of Supernova for me are the red bricks on its exterior, along with outdoor dining by the corridor which exudes a little country side vibes. 

If you can, grab an indoor seat beside the window in the morning, where you get beautiful sun rays streaming into the space. 

The Food Cafe in the day where you get a breakfast and lunch menu, and it turned into a different restaurant concept in the evening where you can expect dishes like okonomiyaki. 

I headed to Supernova twice in the past few weeks, where I had the Grilled Cheese & Pumpkin Soup (S$18.50) for breakfast and the Mala Chicken Burger (S$22.50) for lunch. 

The Grilled Cheese & Pumpkin Soup is quite a decent alternative if you are sick of eggs in the morning. Crispy toast, though I could do with more cheesiness here. The accompany pumpkin soup helps to balance the rich flavour of the cheese. 

When I saw the Mala Chicken Burger, it reminded me of what MacDonald’s had some time back. This version is quite mild, where you get a nice brioche bun and crispy, thick and juicy fried chicken within. I was also equally happy to tuck in to the accompanying golden hash browns! 

For coffee, you can choose from different types of blends on the menu, and a large Long Black (S$5.80) and Flat White (S$6.60) has been my staple order. 

Rants As with new openings, it was 30 minutes wait for me during lunch hour on a weekend, followed by at least 15 minutes wait for food. No reservations taken. 

Will I Return Again? There is one more dish I have not had the chance to try, the Fried Chicken with French Toast. It was sold out on my second visit, and this dish is at the top of my list. I also wouldn’t mind to check out its dinner menu one day.
