Food Review: Wattana Panich Beef Broth In Bangkok | Delicious Beef Broth Which Has Been Simmering For More Than Four Decades!

The Place I like food places with history and when I returned to Bangkok recently, Wattana Panich Beef Broth is one which I am very keen to check out. Located in a shophouse space in the Ekkamai area, you can’t miss out on the stall as it is characterised by its huge pot of boiling goodness at its entrance.

The famous casual restaurant occupies a shophouse and is well-known for its beef broth which has been simmering for more than four decades. The space of Wattana Panich Beef Broth is casual, non-air-conditioned and it is easy to order as there is an English menu.

It was also named one of the “Essence of Asia” in 2021 by Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, where the accolade goes to “honor culinary traditions, reinvent indigenous cuisines, and revive centuries-old recipes, all while playing a key role within their communities.”

The Food The concise menu is a combination of goat and beef stew with prices from 100THB, and I went straight for its signature – Noodles served with sliced beef, stewed beef and beef balls.

The first thing I tasted was the broth, which is very rich as I imagined it to be, judging from how intense looking the huge pot of simmering broth is when I stepped in. The broth is robust from the combination of Chinese herbs and spices, and so good that I slurped up most of it. It is also not that salty.

The beef itself spots a tender texture, perfect with the fine noodles. Beef balls are usually not my thing, but I must say the ones here are good.

Rants It is not near the MRT or BTS station and with the crazy Bangkok traffic, getting here by car is still the most convenient.

Will I Return Again? Service is friendly and prompt and with such a long history of simmering its broth, I strongly recommend beef noodle lovers to head to Wattana Panich Beef Broth at least once in Bangkok.
