There are many reasons to adore Singapore, but at the top of the list is always the convenience of travelling to some incredible locations within just a few hours with or without a private jet. It is the ideal time to start planning a little getaway, we plan our travel escapades in the new year with 2023 is right on the horizon, and various public holidays not too far off in the distance. These destinations are only a short hop, skip, and jump away from the cherished metropolis, ranging from bustling urban centres to remote tropical retreats.

Bali, Indonesia

There is never a terrible time to plan a vacation to Bali. Travelling to the Island of the Gods ought to be at the very top of your to-do list if you are searching for a vacation spot that offers either a laid-back beachside escape or a lush rainforest hideaway. Bali is an excellent place to go because of its abundant vegetation and varied scenery if you want to get away from the strains of city life. You may try out some spiritual experiences, take some lessons in surfing, or you could just lay on a beach and do absolutely nothing. Even if you’re only going to be there for a few days, it’s not difficult to cram many different things into your schedule.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Even though it does not have any coastlines with beaches, you can rest confident that Northern Thailand is just as laid-back as its southern cousin. In the midst of the dense rainforest and woods, you can take in the stunning temples and ornately carved teak dwellings. Isaan cuisine is widely regarded as some of the greatest street food in all Thailand. While you’re there, you should also check out the fascinating shops, galleries, and communities of artists.

Kuching, Malaysia

Although it’s not the most sought-after location, this city in the state of Sarawak has a lot of beautiful natural scenery. Visit the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, which is the only place in the world where you may see the critically endangered Bornean Orangutans. Discover more about them while being charmed by seeing their antics as they swing from tree to tree. Paddle a kayak along the 11-kilometre-long Sunget Sarawak Kiri, which is flanked by mangroves and limestone cliffs, for an exciting experience. Don’t miss the opportunity to travel to Anah Rais, a community famous for its Bidayuh inhabitants and bamboo longhouses. There are ten different hiking paths for you to pick from if you want to explore Bako National Park. All of them provide unique vantage points, landscapes, and opportunities to see local species. Additionally, Kuching is a major player in the world of street cuisine. Kolo mee, Sarawak laksa, and pig ribs are among the dishes that you must try while you’re there.

Da Nang, Vietnam

Your greatest chance for getting away to the tropics is the city of Da Nang. The formerly French colonial port is today brimming with cultural and gastronomic pleasures, with gorgeous beaches of white sand and a variety of wonderful places to stay. Visit the ancient town of Hoi An to see the alleys adorned with lanterns, the old shophouses, and the Japanese bridge that was built in the 18th century.

Gili Trawangan, Indonesia

Trawangan, one of the three Gili Islands for which it is famous, is an excellent location from which to investigate Indonesia’s rich marine life. At Shark Point, you may observe a wide variety of colourful fish, as well as reef sharks and stingrays. Deep diving and exploring some rather stunning wrecks, such as the Glenn Nusa 1 or Bounty Wreck, are great activities for experienced divers. You may select from a wide variety of hip pubs and hangouts and dance the night away on this island, which is also famous for its nightlife. The Sama Sama Reggae Bar is an establishment that you shouldn’t pass over. Do not miss the live reggae music concert and the enjoyable beverages and atmosphere. Jungle is the place to go for those who enjoy going out and having a wild night while dancing to electronic dance music (EDM). Rudy’s, Blue Marlin, and The Irish Pub are some of the other popular hangouts in the area.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Many travellers’ hearts have been won over by Siem Reap because of its stylish hotels and hip, up-and-coming cafés, all of which integrate elements of Cambodian culture and history. Psar Chaa is the name that the locals give to the Old Market. If you go there, you can walk down the dim alleyways of the meat section, where you’ll find freshly made sausages hanging from strings, or you can walk through the rows of vendors sitting on straw floor mats selling dried seafood. Both of these places are well worth visiting, in addition to the incredible Angkor Wat. Pub Street is the place to go if you’re looking for a laid-back evening of western cuisine and a crazy night of Angkor beers on tap.
