The Place Located in Geylang Bahru Food Centre near Geylang Bahru MRT Station, Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian stands out in this busy food centre, well-known for serving delicious handmade Ban Mian. The humble hawker stall is in the spotlight again this year after being feature in the Michelin Guide Singapore Bib Gourmand list in 2023, for the first time.  

The Food The star of Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian’s menu is undoubtedly their Signature Chilli Ban Mian (S$5). This dish is a soul-warming bowl of handmade flat noodles cooked to perfection. I love the al dente texture of the ban mian and it is delicious when mixed with the blend of spices and chili paste. The Ban Mian comes with an array of fresh toppings, such as minced pork, tender slices of chicken, mushrooms, and vegetables 

It also comes with a poached egg, which adds a velvety creaminess to the noodles when mixed in. For those who prefer a fierier kick, feel free to request additional chili paste, but beware, it can be seriously spicy! 

If Ban Mian isn’t your preference, Hui Wei offers other equally delectable options, including Mee Hoon Kueh (S$5/dry). The Mee Hoon Kueh comes with ingredients like minced pork, prawns and vegetables and is a milder version in terms of flavour as compared to the Chilli Ban Mian. I personally enjoyed the Chilli Ban Mian more, though go for this if you prefer a flat, wide noodle texture.  

Rants Expect a long queue most of the time at this stall. Thankfully, the queue moves reasonably fast.

Will I Return Again? For someone who is not a Ban Mian eater, I am genuinely impressed by the delicious Ban Mian at Hui Wei Chilli Ban Mian. Head here for your Ban Mian craving, no regrets!
