Food Review: Jok Prince Porridge, Bangkok | Delicious Smoky Congee, One Of The Best Street Food To Try
The Place One of my favourite go to places in Bangkok for a good casual meal is Jok Prince. Located in Chinatown area in Bangkok, it is a no-frills space where you can spot the huge pot to prepare the porridge at the entrance. Jok Prince has been a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot in Bangkok for the past few years, which makes it an even more popular spot amongst tourists right now.
I usually try to have a good mix of Thai food when I am in Bangkok, be it a casual meal like the one I had at the wildly popular Michelin Bib Gourmand Jeh O Chula (skip the insane queue by booking a slot on Klook), Michelin starred restaurants like Sorn and Baan Tepa, a mid-range concept like Samlor, or casual street food like Jok Prince Porridge! So long as the food is good, I am here.

I enjoyed watching the preparation of the porridge, where the ingredients like the pork meat balls are freshly prepared.

The Food The menu is straightforward and I usually just go for the Porridge with Pork Meat Balls, and add on the Fried Dough Fritters by the side.

The porridge itself spots a nice and smooth texture, and I also recommend adding egg to it!

You can also choose to add Century Egg if you fancy.

The ‘wok hei’ and smokiness of the porridge is on point, and along with the to-die-for juicy meat balls and crispy fried you tiao, it is such a satisfying bowl of goodness.

Rants Well, I wish I can stomach two bowls instead of one?
Will I Return Again? That ‘wok hei’ and smoky flavour of the porridge is the best part, and I am sure to return.
