Hotel Review: Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman | Drop Dead Gorgeous World Of Hyatt Property Worth A Visit

The Hotel Located in one of the most remote corners of Oman’s northern Al Hajar mountain range, Alila Jabal Akhdar is one of the most gorgeous mountain resorts I have been to, and is certainly one of the highlights of my Oman trip this year. The World Of Hyatt property is located 2,000m above sea level, and I was amazed at how well the facade of Alila Jabal Akhdar blends seamlessly with the natural mountain surroundings.

The nearest big city to Alila Jabal Akhdar is the ancient city of Nizwa, and in fact, I stayed here right after my stay at another equally stunning property in the same region, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort.

Upon arriving at the drive-through, the staff were quick to help us unload our luggage from our rental car, and complimentary valet service was offered to park the car.

My first impression of the lobby is how zen the whole space is, where the interior design of the resort takes inspiration from the ancient forts in the region using traditional building techniques, fort-like doors, wooden rafters, and Omani design motifs for spaces. True enough, there is a strong sense of calmness for me.

One of the staff then showed us around the property, and to our suite.

The Room I stayed in the Ridge View Suite which is a spacious 560 square feet/52 square meters. Let me first move to the highlight of this suite, where the balcony opens up to a spacious outdoor terrace with an upclose view of the mountains.

There is a strong sense of peacefulness and calmness to just sit here and gaze out.

The interior of the bedroom itself is contemporary and cosy. There is a sofa and coffee table, king size bed, and plenty of storage size in a walk-in closet covered by a dark red velvet curtain.

The bathroom size is huge to say the least. You get a freestanding bathtub and separate rain shower, double vanity sinks and enough space for me to do jumping jacks or push-ups in the bathroom.

The Facilities The biggest highlight of Alila Jabal Akhdar for me is the infinity pool with a gorgeous, jaw dropping view of the mountains.

It is a decent size for the property with 85 suites, and it is also great that the pool is heated.

There is also a separate outdoor heated jacuzzi pool at the lower tier of the main pool.

If you are afraid of the cold, there is also an indoor heated jacuzzi pool.

The 24-hours gym is quite small with only one bench, a couple of free weights and cardio machines, though you do get the mountain and pool view from the gym.

Spa treatments are available at the spa, and guests can also make use of complimentary sauna and jacuzzi facilities within the spa area.

If you are the restless type of person, there is a whole range of activities you can sign up for such as hiking, cliff climbing, and even star gazing at night! That said, most of the activities are not complimentary. Otherwise, taking a stroll around the property to marvel at the scenery is a pretty awesome thing to do as well.

The Restaurants Named after the juniper trees that grow in the highlands of Oman, Juniper Restaurant is the main dining concept in this property with offers local and International cuisine.

I had dinner here since there are no other options and the Thai and Indian dishes I had were pretty good.

Breakfast is also served at Juniper, and while there is no buffet line, you get to choose from a decent spread from the ala carte menu. Overall, the quality of the breakfast met my expectations, and the staff have no qualms if you want to drop by for the second round of breakfast if you happen to have your first round very early.

Other than Juniper, for something a little lighter, there is also Rose Lounge which serves drinks and light bites.

Rants Embrace yourself for winding rounds up to the resort if you are renting and driving yourself. There is also a lack of dining options in the area other than Juniper restaurant within the property. Service is also mixed bag for me where I came across really warm and genuine staff, and also staff who were quite mechanical in their service.

Overall Experience Alila Jabal Akhdar is easily one of the most gorgeous Alila properties I have come across. It is located in a nice, secluded corner of Oman where you get the most spectacular view of the Al Hajar mountain range. I highly recommend this property if you are planning to visit Oman.
