Food Review: Joong San At Stanley Street | Korean Beef BBQ By Um Yong Baek

The Place There is no such thing as too many Korean restaurants in the CBD of Singapore. Located along Stanley Street, Joong San opened early this year and is by the same team behind the hugely popular Um Yong Baek.

The interior of Joong San takes on an elegant and cosy vibe with dimly lit booths and wood accents.

The Food For lunch, homestyle stews and buckwheat noodles are served, while dinner focuses on a beef-centric charcoal K-BBQ experience.

I visited the restaurant for dinner and had the Assorted Beef Platter (S$340 for 4 pax) which is a mix of Diced Ribeye (200g), Tenderloin (200g). Beef Tongue Slices (200g) and Andong-style Marinated Ribs (bone in 300g).

The meats are grilled over charcoal by the staff, and generally each cut is juicy and flavourful enough for me.

One unique part is the accompanying tin of black truffle mustard seeds which look like caviar! A rather interesting condiment which cuts through the rich flavour of the beef.

Special mention to the delicious spread of banchan which comes with refreshing salad, white kimchi and more.

Rants Reservations are not taken for lunch while dinner requires advanced booking.

Will I Return Again? Overall, I enjoyed my dinner at Joong San where the quality of their beef and ingredients are good. The dining ambience is cosy and modern, which makes it ideal for a comfortable dining setting.
