The Place Located at Far East Square, Kimpson’s Table is a new casual Korean restaurant by Chef Patrick Kim. The interior of Kimpson’s Table is unpretentious, with indoor and outdoor seats, where the restaurant is located right at the exit of Telok Ayer MRT Station. It is a modest looking modest, which is also a reflection of the transition of Chef Patrick from a home-based/pop-up concept to a permanent brick-and-mortar nook.  

The Food Expect home-style Korean comfort food with mostly dishes like Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) priced under S$20. 

I had their Samgyetang (S$18/Ginseng Chicken Soup) which comes with half chicken. The nourishing ginseng chicken soup is cooked with ginseng, red date, garlic and glutinous rice.

Served with three types of banchan, the soup spots a clear and clean flavour and this is the only flavour on the menu. 

The Original Fried Chicken (S$15/Boneless) is a must have. The fried chicken texture is crispy and lightly seasoned, and boneless makes it so easy to enjoy. 

A stronger flavour profile is the Snow Cheese Fried Chicken (S$15/Boneless) which is equally satisfying. The crispy chicken here is generously dusted with savoury snow cheese seasoning. Sinfully good. 

Instead of going for the usual kimchi pancake, we opted for their Cheese Potato Pancake (S$14) which comes in thin and crisp texture. The crispy potato pancake is topped with melted cheese, and it reminds me of Swiss rosti! 

There are also dry and soup noodle options where I had their Chicken Bibim Kalguksu (S$15/Noodle-Dry). It is essentially Spicy Mixed Chicken Noodles where the traditional Korean hand-cut noodles is tossed in house-made gochujang sauce and topped with shredded chicken, fresh cucumbers.

Served with three types of banchan, be warned that this is quite spicy. 

Rants Seating capacity is limited, meaning queues can stack up quickly during peak CBD lunch hours where no reservations are taken for lunch (you can reserve dinner). 

Will I Return Again? For a hearty and soulful Korean meal that doesn’t burn a hole in the wallet, this is one casual spot to check out in the CBD.
