Food Review: Crystal Jade Palace At Takashimaya, Orchard Road | Refined Cantonese Restaurant In Singapore
The Place Mention Crystal Jade and most Singaporeans will immediately think of their casual neighborhood Hong Kong Kitchen or the casual La Mian Xiao Long Bao outlets. However, if you are looking for an elevated dining experience, Crystal Jade Palace located on level 4 of Takashimaya Shopping Centre is the brand’s flagship jewel.

Having undergone a massive revamp a few years back, the space of Crystal Jade Palace is elegant and features a modern look. It is a polished setting ideal for a business lunch or a multi-generational family gathering, where there is the spacious main dining hall and ample private dining rooms.
The Food The culinary direction here steers toward refined Cantonese classics alongside a scattering of modern regional interpretations.
Our dinner started off with the Palace Signature Starters Platter, featuring crispy Sakura Shrimp Crackers, a refreshing Crab Meat & Avocado Salsa Tartlet, crunchy Bi Feng Tang White Bait, and a punchy Chilled Jellyfish with fresh Lily Bulb in Wasabi Aged Vinegar.

The heavy hitters didn’t disappoint. The Roasted Duck with Black Truffle (S$52/half) was incredibly aromatic, while the Sautéed Beef Cube (S$38) with Shishito Pepper in Black Pepper Sauce hit all the right savory notes.

For seafood lovers, you will not miss spotting the massive water tanks upon entering the restaurant which houses the live seafood.

We had their Sautéed Sri Lanka Crab with Foie Gras Pâté & Black Pepper (Seasonal Price/100g) which is delightful, alongside comforting claypots of Double-boiled Abalone & Fish Maw Chicken Soup (S$98/good for 2-3 pax) and Braised Beancurd with Crab Meat.

Carb lovers can look forward to the Braised Ee-Fu Noodle with Truffle Prawn (S$34) — simple sounding yet delicious.

We ended the feast on a sweet note with a locally inspired Chendol with Coconut Ice Cream (S$14.80).

Rants While the food quality here is consistently better than your average Crystal Jade branch, it does come at a premium price point.
Will I Return Again? Crystal Jade Palace remains a highly reliable fallback choice in Orchard Road for good Cantonese fares in a refined dining environment. It is a plus that there are quite a couple of private dining rooms as an option.
