Food Review: Shared Table At Bishan Park | Pet-Friendly Parkside Cafe With Wholesome Dishes

The Place We all love our cafes in the park and the newest to open is Shared Table nestled inside Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. Shared Table took over the space of the now-defunct Canopy Garden Dining where the interior takes on a minimalist look, surrounded by lush greenery of the parl.

It is a spacious indoor and outdoor dining space where the outdoor seats are pet-friendly, perfect for the park setting. The concept is a collaboration between Jerls Su who is behind Jalan Besar’s Average Service café and Jazreel Low, Spa Director of the adjacent Aramsa – The Garden Spa.

As the name Shared Table suggests, it is largely a communal table setting where a long communal table takes centrestage, along with other table sizes fit for couples or small groups.

The Food The culinary concept here centres around the Japanese Ichiju Sansai philosophy which is translated as “one soup, three dishes” with a focus on mindful eating and clean, feel-good Asian flavors.

I started with their Grilled Chicken Skewer with Tzatziki (S$14.90) and Pita and Hummus with Roasted Mushroom and Pita (S$18.90), both of which are hearty options ideal for sharing.

The highlight here is the Nourish Plate (from S$21.90) where you get to mix-and-match your own base grain, a main protein, two chosen sides, and the daily hot soup. Each item is also available as à la carte as well if you choose not to go for the nourish plate.

For grains, there are options like Cold Buckwheat Soba served with Tsuyu, Lemon Herbed Rice, and more. I had the soba with a protein of Honey Miso Salmon which comes with a generous slab of salmon which is nice and moist.

For sides, there are options like Truffle Pasta Mushroom Salad, Corn Succotash, Sauteed Spinach, and more.

For soup, it depends on the soup of the day where I had their Pumpkin Soup.

For dessert, I had their Protein Pancake with Caramelized Banana (S$17.90) which features fluffy pancakes stacked under a combination of caramelized banana, peanut butter sauce, and a drizzle of local gula melaka. The pancake is quite dense and not overly cloying.

For beverages, there are options like specialty coffee, whisked matcha to crafted cocktails.

Rants No reservations are taken.

Will I Return Again? A good addition to Bishan Park, Shared Table is an easy spot to bookmark for your next unhurried weekend afternoon. The bonus is that it is spacious and pet-friendly, where flavours of the dishes focus on clean eating as compared to other cafes.
