AO Restaurant
Located at Claymore Drive, AO Restaurant (pronounced ‘ah-oh’) is a new casual restaurant where Japanese craft is applied to flavours from around the world. AO is by Cloud Restaurant Group, which is also behind the viral bakery Cloudmills, and is led by Culinary Director Araki Takeshi, formerly of Esora. The menu applies Japanese techniques across culinary cultures and gives familiar dishes new forms. It is an ala carte menu where you get to choose from starters, sharing dishes, mains and desserts. Prices are fairly reasonable with most dishes in the 20s and 30s range. [Read more here for our full review]

Saikyo Pasta
Located at Icon Village in the heart of Tanjong Pagar is a newly opened pasta joint, Saikyo Pasta which takes on a hole-in-the-wall unit space. As a former home-based takeaway setup that officially transitioned into a physical storefront, the space of Saikyo Pasta is an intimate 12-seater counter-style pasta bar. The concept here revolves around a straightforward 3-course set menu priced competitively at S$39.90, which includes an appetizer, a main, and a dessert. The a la carte features Japanese-Italian pastas with just three pasta options, with nothing priced over S$23. [Read more here for our full review]

Elijah Pies Joo Chiat
There is always something new at Joo Chiat and our homegrown favourite Elijah Pies has opened at 72 Joo Chiat Place, their new flagship outlet after outposts at Tanjong Pagar Plaza and King George’s Avenue. Elijah Pies started out twelve years ago where husband and wife duo specialises in pies – sweet and savoury  – where their Joo Chiat space is gorgeous, restored Peranakan shophouse. The main highlight of the Joo Chiat flagship store are some outlet exclusive items such as their savoury “Pizza Pies”. Other than that, you can pretty much expect similar items as their Tanjong Pagar outlet where there is a wide selection of savoury pies, dessert pies, coffee, and a craft mocktail menu. Casa Lola
Located along Stanley Street is a new Spanish restaurant I checked out recently – Casa Lola, the latest concept by the team behind FOC Restaurant. The idea of Casa Lola is to mirror after a rustic Barcelona neighbourhood bodega. Expect a mix of cold and hot tapas, mains and desserts on the menu, where we had cold tapas dishes – “Salmorejo”, Chilled Tomato Soup, Iberico Ham, Boiled Egg & Croutons and Smoked Cantabrico Anchovies with Foie Gras Ganache & Brioche. We are not so much a fan of cold soup, but we did enjoy the anchovies and foie gras brioche which spots a smooth and rich taste. [Read more here for our full review]

Shared Table
Bishan–Ang Mo Kio Park’s newest parkside neighbourhood café. Surrounded by lush greenery, there are comforting café favourites at Shared Table alongside their signature Nourish Plates. Breakfast classics include the likes of Breakfast Plate, Avocado Smashed Croissant Sliders, Creamy Egg Dip and French Toast with Whipped Feta, along with café mains such as Pan Seared Salmon, Mentaiko Udon, Crispy Salmon, Grilled Chicken Skewers and Tempeh Tacos. For those seeking something more balanced, their signature Nourish Plates are inspired by the Japanese principle of “Ichiju Sansai (一汁三菜)”, or “one soup, three dishes”. Build your own plate by choosing three to five seasonal dishes, with options such as Crispy Miso Salmon, Honey Glazed Goji Smoked Duck, Beef Bites with Himalayan Salt, Mentai Potato Salad, Truffle Pasta Mushroom Salad and Creamy Pumpkin Soup.

IM QALB by Pun Im
New Thai-Malay restaurant in Tampines Mall by Le Cordon Bleu Bangkok-trained chef Vincent where he marries the bold, soulful flavours of Southern Thailand with rich Malay peninsula traditions. Highlights we had include the Golden Crab Tahu Kai Jeow, a cloud-light, crispy union of Tahu Telur and Thai omelette topped with jumbo lump crab meat). The Spicy & Sour Beef Soup “Tom SAAP” is their signature soup that hails from Issan, Northeastern Thailand – and comes with three premium cuts of beet-gold coin, oxtail, and tendon. A delicious and comforting soup choice with the tender meat parts. The Stir Fried Squid in Black Ink Sauce is a lesser-known coastal classic also from Southern Thailand. We love how tender and easy to enjoy this dish is, where its flavours are enhanced by a medley of aromatics and herbs such as onions, garlic, shallots, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves.

Willow’s New Menu
As one of the dining concepts under the Ebb & Flow Group, I first visited Willow at Hong Kong Street when it first opened back in 2022 and fast forward to today, the restaurant helmed by Executive Chef Nicolas Tam has a new direction. Following four consecutive years of retaining its One Michelin Star since 2023, the new menu and direction of Willow reflects a more personal expression of Chef Nicolas’s culinary journey, memories and experiences over the past few years, while still rooted in Willow’s contemporary Asian identity. The new menu brings together premium seasonal produce, French technique, Chinese Japanese flavours and Chef Nicolas’ Southeast Asian roots, with each dish drawing from a particular memory, craving or emotion. MICHELIN Selected Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa’s Newest Restaurant at Raffles City
Hailing from Nagoya, Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa is one of Japan’s largest live unagi restaurant chains, and is famed for its extraordinarily fresh unagi and legendary tare sauce that has been passed down through generations. Their second outlet in Raffles City mall spots a new RCS exclusive dish, the Unagi Mountain (S$88++), featuring two whole kabayaki unagi stacked atop warm rice and presented in a striking tower formation, alongside the signature Hitsumabushi Set (S$37++), a Nagoya regional specialty traditionally enjoyed in three ways – savoured on its own, with condiments, or as ochazuke with dashi broth.

Blue Label Tavern Opens On Stamford Road
Located opposite SMU, the new tavern of the famous pizzeria spots a more relaxed and casual gastropub ambience. While the pizza selection and size (10 inch vs 12 inch at other outlets) is smaller at this outlet, there are dishes exclusive to the tavern concept. Their very first BLP*SMU Smash Burger uses a secret sauce along with shaved onion, shredded lettuce & pepper jack cheese, while the outlet exclusive The Flying Chicken Plate features a slow-brined and tender chicken.

Osteria Mozza Singapore New Home At ION Orchard
Brand-new space at ION Orchard for this legendary pizzeria as it has moved out of Hilton Singapore Orchard. Osteria Mozza Singapore is also James Beard Award-winning Chef Nancy Silverton’s only Asian outpost of the Michelin-starred restaurant concept from Los Angeles, California. The new space is much more elegantly designed and spacious than before, and making its Singapore debut is Pizza alla Pala, a Roman-style pizza inspired by Rome’s vibrant street food culture. The pizza is baked in a long, paddle-shaped form (pala means “paddle” in Italian), and it features a light, airy interior and crisp crust, designed for sharing. [Read more here for our full review]

Birds Of A Feather New Progressive Cuisine With Chuan Influences
It is a new culinary identity for ten years old Birds Of A Feather, a restaurant and bar located on Amoy Street. Helmed by Chef-Partner Eugene See, the menu brings together Sichuan and regional Southwestern Chinese sensibilities, global inspirations and classic European fine-dining techniques. Relaunch menu highlights include Abalone.Prawn.Clam which is a cold small plate of raw and cooked seafood over wheat noodles, finished with Green Tiger’s Milk; Crispy Frog Legs served over green garlic purée with a house-blended mixed chilli sand; Loup De Mer – whole seared seabass in a saffron yellow pepper broth infused with Dongqu Shaoxinge; end off with their new Red Date ‘Clafoutis’ for 2 – a warm, French-inspired dessert baked to order.

Jellyfish Sushi All-new 8-course Menu
A ten-seat counter by Chef-Owner Bjorn Shen, the all-new 8-course menu, “The Other Sushi” (S$148++/pax) at Jellyfish Sushi is a rice-forward exploration of sushi’s overlooked traditional forms, from temari zushi to bō-zushi, alongside original riceless creations. With “The Other Sushi”, the kitchen turns its attention to rice — starting with a Japanese and Korean mixed grain rice base folded with dried perilla, sesame, seaweeds and pickles to create a family of derivative rice bases, some closer to a flavoured onigiri, others echoing a takigomi Gohan. Menu highlights include Patchwork Norimaki – a riceless maki roll with cured house-made salmon, negitoro, takuwan, green apple, and chives; Temari Sushi – three hand-shaped, spherical bites featuring scallop, pickled iwashi, and shima-aji; Winter Truffle & Mushroom Inari – seasoned aburaage stuffed with kombu butter-sautéed shimeji, finished with fresh winter black truffle; and Handmade Ramen – genmaicha ramen tossed in miso-mani butter, topped with Japanese snow crab, served with sweet corn soup.

Po Restaurant’s New Modern Peranakan Menu
Po just introduced a renewed menu as it focuses on modern Peranakan cuisine. Expect the likes of Buah Keluak Pork Jowl which features tender iberico pork jowl braised in a rich fermented black nut and hand ground spice paste, served with fried dough fritters; Jantung Pisang, banana flower slow-simmered in a spicy coconut broth, then finished with tiger prawn and crispy popiah skin; and one of the new signature dishes Nasi Ulam, a Peranakan classic that is laborious to prepare. This dish requires 15 varieties of herbs, spices and savoury toppings. [Read more here for our full review]

Refreshed Menu Of Taste of Hong Kong At Jiang-Nan Chun
We checked out their refreshed menu of Taste of Hong Kong which is inspired by the roots and memories of their Chinese Executive Chef Alan Chan. Highlights from this menu we had include the Steamed Pork and Shrimp Dumpling with Lava Quail Egg, Steamed Pork Dumpling with Laksa Broth, Braised E-Fu Noodles with Beef in Satay Sauce! Our favourites are still the dim sum items which can’t go very wrong!

Skai’s New Seasonal Menus & Tuna Bar
70 floors above Singapore, one of the best dining views in town. The dramatic Tuna Tower comes in three tiers of Maki Roll, Otoro, Chutoro Toast, Dry Aged Tuna Sashimi, and more. Opt for ala carte menu or the 5-course dinner menu which we had. Started with their Amuse Bouche Cured Salmon Tartare, followed by Appetisers like 6-Days Dry Aged Tuna Sashimi and English pea soup, Hot Starters like King Crab Cake, and Mains options like Atlantic Miso Cod Fish and 2GR Wagyu Flank Steak. We ended the meal with desserts like Cherry Tomato With Ume and their Strawberry Fontainebleau!

Muted Gelato Joo Chiat
The second outpost after its Lavender Street store, Muted Gelato is a great addition to Joo Chiat Road given that there is a lack of a proper and spacious gelato boutique for diners to dine in. The interior of the shophouse space is minimalistic and decked in modern deep red hue. Sampling of flavours is possible at the counter, I recommend getting the pistachio gelato and the non-negotiable waffle.
