The Place One of the latest establishments along River Valley Road, Five and Dime is fast rising as a popular Brunch hangout among Singaporeans. I have heard so much about it before I finally made my way here. Reservation is a must due to the limited seats in house. There are three seatings for the Brunch sessions; 10am, 12pm and 3pm.
The Big Brekkie has pretty much of everything in a Traditional English Breakfast. There is a choice of Scrambled Eggs or Sunny Side up and the usual chicken sausages, bacon, baked beans and sauteed mushrooms. Unfortunately, this is a hit and miss if you are a more adventurous eater as there is no element of surprise, certainly overpriced at $22 bucks.
If bread and eggs is not your cup of tea, an alternative is the Mentaiko Pasta. Priced at $18, I feel that it is overpriced for the small serving and mediocre taste.
Pancakes lovers should not miss out ordering the Buttermilk Pancakes which comes with Bacon or Chicken sausage and sauteed mushrooms. The Pancake is soft and flavourful, pretty much value for money at $15 as well.
Will I return again? Maybe. No doubt the food is decent fare for Brunch, it is not awesomely special to entice me to return for a second visit anytime soon. Moreover, there are simply too many other cafes or restaurants offering Brunch menu these days which are worth checking out as well.
