Food Review: The Tasting Room [Closed]
The Place Located at level 1 of Marina Square, The Tasting Room is one restaurant which serves Modern European cuisine. I was surprised by how small the place is, given that it can probably only house 30 people, excluding the limited outdoor seats. The interior of the restaurant is a casual modern futuristic setting which is unimposing.
Here is a sneak peep into the menu.
The Food For starters, I decided to have the Truffle Mushroom Soup ($9.90) as I was tempted by the idea of having Truffle in the soup, which is not served everywhere. The soup is pleasantly good but I thought that it would have been better if the taste of the Truffle is stronger.
For Truffle Fries lovers, it is worth ordering the White Truffle House Fries ($12.90) to share as well.
The other appetiser on the table is the Pan Seared Foie Gras ($19.90) which is one of my main draw to The Tasting Room. I totally love the Foie Gras as it is done to perfection. For foodies who are not too fond of the raw taste of Foie Gras, the Pan Seared version should be a relatively more pleasant rendition of Foie Gras.
For mains, I had the Wagyu Steak Frites ($38.90) which is arguably one of the more affordable Wagyu Steak around in town. I like my Medium-rare Wagyu Steak as it is succulent and tender. Another bonus point for this dish is that it is served with Truffle Frites, which I must say is very addictive for me.
For the pastas, the Truffle Cream Linguine ($22.90) is mediocre as the truffle taste is not strong at all. It feels more like pasta in ordinary cream sauce served from a fast food restaurant.
The other pasta we tried was the Seafood Risotto ($24.90), which was equally a bad choice. The presentation of the Risotto is bad, and it is simply not tasty enough. Therefore, my humble advice is to avoid ordering the pastas here and try the other mains such as the Wagyu Steak instead.
Will I return again? Absolutely. For the Wagyu Steak and Pan Seared Foie Gras, I am prepared to come back any time soon. In addition, it would be more value for money if you have the Palate Card which entitles you up to 50% off your total bill as a Palate member.
